You’ll be a coach, strategist, builder, and multiplier — helping equity partners evolve as leaders, collaborators, and value creators. This is for someone who can architect systems, grow talent, and roll up their sleeves when it’s time to build. Overview We’re recruiting a VP - Performance, Coaching, & Talent Development to design and operationalize the people architecture that powers Anime Universe. You’ll drive our approach to values-based leadership, contributor growth, succession planning, and high-potential acceleration. You’ll also coach founders, creatives, and emerging leaders — supporting their evolution through deep partnership and thoughtful design. You’ll report to the Chief People & Culture Officer, serving as a strategic and hands-on leader across teams, subsidiaries, and time zones. What You’ll Own Culture, Leadership & Coaching Codify and activate AU’s Cultural OS (Fun+, Honor+, Ownership+, Respect+) as lived behaviors Coach founders, leaders, and high-potential contributors — 1:1 and in small groups Facilitate leadership retros, async feedback cycles, and personal growth conversations Lead rituals, storytelling, and cultural activations that scale values across a distributed team Talent Development & Succession Growth Design contributor-to-cofounder progression systems with equity milestones Implement development planning, HiPo acceleration, and company-wide succession mapping Build leveling systems, performance reflection rituals, and role evolution frameworks Ensure that talent growth is deeply connected to AU’s mission, strategy, and ownership model Team Context & Collaboration You’ll work within a global network of executives, leaders, peers, and equity partners — including but not limited to scribes, creative leads, product architects, and HR collaborators across Anime Universe’s ecosystem. You’ll also lead and build a team as the scope and complexity of the role scales. This is not a purely strategic or advisory role — it’s for a doer. Someone who’s ready to roll up their sleeves, coach directly, prototype fast, and implement with precision. Designing for Scale You’ll design leadership and culture systems that scale from 10 to 100 to 1,000+ contributors — across time zones, subsidiaries, and creative disciplines — without diluting our values, fracturing trust, or losing the sense of shared ownership that defines Anime Universe. What We’re Looking For Experience & Expertise 10+ years in leadership development, executive coaching, or organizational design Demonstrated success in building and operationalizing succession planning, talent growth, and HiPo programs Experience supporting founders, creatives, and execs in fast-paced, high-growth, or mission-driven organizations Proven ability to build and scale values-driven cultures in async-first, globally distributed environments Strong grasp of career architecture, behavioral design, and high-performance team dynamics Coaching & Facilitation Mastery Skilled in 1:1 coaching, group facilitation, and leadership development across experience levels Confident leading reflective conversations, difficult dialogues, and trust-building sessions Able to flex between coaching, advising, mentoring, and facilitating based on context Committed to coaching as a long-term investment in people and performance System Design & Strategic Thinking Fluency in designing scalable people systems — from growth frameworks to performance rituals Strong strategic lens on how leadership, culture, and capability connect to AU’s mission, product, and vision Adept at turning abstract ideas (like “respect” or “ownership”) into concrete, trackable behaviors Comfortable working cross-functionally and influencing across diverse stakeholder groups Mindset & Values Fit Emotionally intelligent, deeply empathetic, and mission-aligned Autonomous, async-native, and energized by high-agency collaboration Builder’s mindset — curious, experimental, iterative, and resilient Deep resonance with Anime Universe’s creative world: anime, storytelling, IP, gaming, worldbuilding Bonus: experience in equity/token-based orgs, creative-led teams, or hybrid creative/technical environments Compensation Equity (Shares): Founding partner-level Token Rewards: Pending legal readiness Salary: Unlocks via future revenue milestones Remote-First: Async-native, globally distributed, autonomy-first team Our Promise We don’t just grow leaders — we build the frameworks that make leadership inevitable.
