Empire Life is looking to hire a Director & Actuary to join our Group Finance & Actuarial team

The Director & Actuary is accountable for achieving business financial and risk management goals by recommending and implementing actuarial solutions through leadership of a functional area with a focus on pricing, valuation, risk management, capital management and/or financial planning. The Director & Actuary develops employees and manages performance to foster a high performing team environment. The incumbent is guided by defined goals and objectives, and works under the broad supervision of the Vice President of the area.

Accountable for the design, development, implementation and review of actuarial programs, projects, processes and models to support the functional area and achieve business goals and objectives
Accountable for research, analysis and recommendations on actuarial issues, methods and solutions to support business strategy development
Identify employee training and development needs; manage employee performance; Effectively communicate, collaborate, influence and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders at senior levels to lead the development and delivery of actuarial programs and meet business objectives
10+ years of relevant work experience in the insurance/financial services industry
~ Advanced mathematical and programming skills
~ Advanced research, analysis and decision-making skills
~ Outstanding organizational skills with ability to manage competing priorities
~ Strong team building, coaching and performance management skills
~ Advanced working knowledge of spreadsheet, database and word processing software
