The Structural Engineer, Project Manager will work on a variety of project types including new building designs, renovations and additions, structural assessments, and design of structural repairs for municipal, commercial, institutional, industrial, and residential buildings using concrete, steel, wood, and masonry. The role is based in one of our Ontario offices (Collingwood, Barrie, Orillia, or Bracebridge) with a preference for the candidate’s location.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare structural calculations, model structures using design software, design new structures and analyze existing structures for a variety of project sizes and typesOversee the production of design drawings and contract documents for structural engineering projectsProvide construction phase services for structural projects, including construction review, shop drawing review, and responding to inquiries from the contractor, design team, or other stakeholdersVisit project sites to review or evaluate structures and collect information for the advancement of structural engineering projectsPrepare written reports detailing observations and recommendationsPrepare fee proposals for potential new projects, respond to requests for proposals, and assist other departments with proposals involving structural engineering elementsServe as the project manager for structural engineering projects, including setting and monitoring budgets and schedules, acting as the main client contact, coordinating project staff, and monitoring invoicingProvide structural engineering design and construction phase support for projects led by other departmentsAttend regular buildings department team meetingsAssist with business development, maintain and expand our client base, and develop client relationshipsCommunicate with clients, architects, building officials, and municipal/provincial approval agenciesDistribute work, mentor younger staff, provide technical support and guidanceConduct quality control reviews on structural engineering work completed by othersKey Position RequirementsP.Eng. in the Province of OntarioMinimum of 6 to 10 years of structural engineering experienceStrong working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (Part 4 and Part 9)Proficiency in designing municipal, institutional, commercial, industrial, and residential structures using wood, timber, steel, concrete and masonryExperience working on a variety of large and small project sizesComputer literate with knowledge of structural analysis and design softwareExcellent communication, organizational and time management skillsExperience with business development is an assetAbility to manage multiple projects and work under minimal supervisionValid driver’s license and reliable transportationHow To ApplyClick the “Apply Now” button below and follow the instructions to create your account.
