That is why we invest every day in their safety, training, and development, and in making sure their skills are passed on.DescriptionReporting to the General Manager of ORTEC Canada, the Health and Safety Director – Canada provides strategic and operational leadership for health and safety activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory, contractual, and internal requirements. He is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Health & Safety Management System throughout Canada (Quebec and Ontario).He supervises the teams responsible for health and safety functions within the various entities and provides support and expertise to local and operational management.The Health and Safety Director – Canada plays a key role in the organization’s sustainable performance by promoting a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment in line with the Group’s priorities.Main ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Management of the Health & Safety SystemContribute to the development of the organization’s health, safety, and environmental policies and strategic priorities.Define, implement, and maintain health and safety guidelines, objectives, and programs.Monitor performance indicators (KPIs), regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of the management system.Monitor best practices and make recommendations to management to support the organizational performance mission.Organize and lead health and safety meetings and internal and external audits, while ensuring that best practices are applied.Supervise health and safety communication and ensure mobilization among teams, customers, and partners.Participate in the selection and evaluation of suppliers and subcontractors, as well as data consolidation and analysis.Operations and Risk Management SupportMaintain an active presence in the field to support teams and promote the application of best practices.Ensure the integration, training, and development of health and safety skills.Support operational teams in the application of preventive practices and intervene if there is a risk.Supervise incident management, event analysis, action plan follow-up, and regulatory controls.Lead risk assessment, inspection, and equipment validation activities.Team Mobilization and Resource ManagementSupervise, mobilize, and develop the Health & Safety team, define clear objectives, and ensure their follow-up.Conduct performance evaluations, manage staffing levels, and contribute to recruitment.Roll out initiatives to promote best practices and strengthen the teams’ commitment to the OHS culture.Ensure rigorous reporting to management and actively participate in the development of a culture of prevention.Financial Management and SecurityManage the department’s budget rigorously.Apply and enforce safety measures, including the protection of people, property, and data.Required QualificationsEducationUniversity degree in a relevant field (a significant asset)Professional ExperienceMinimum of 15 years of experience, including at least 5 years in a management roleExperience in an industrial services environment with clients (industrial cleaning is an asset)CompetenciesKnowledge of applicable Health and Safety laws and regulationsProficiency in computer tools (Office Suite)Excellent command of French and English, spoken and writtenSpecific SkillsEngaging and motivating leadership in a growth environmentStrong communication skillsEase with planning, priority management, and organizationProven ability to combine an administrative role with a field roleAutonomy, initiative, and good judgmentCustomer-focused approachFocused on continuous improvement and process optimizationWhy Join Ortec Environment ServicesAttractive compensation based on profile and experienceFlexible working hours and sick leavePension fund with employer contributionAttractive group insurance (medical, dental, life, disability)A welcoming work environmentSkills developmentOnboarding program to learn best practices in the fieldPractical training with an experienced mentorOpportunities for internal advancementOn-site parkingTeam events, Ortec Group activities, etc.Follow TALINKO on LinkedInOnly the people selected for an interview will be contacted.
