About Royal Columbian Hospital is a provincial referral hospital (stroke/cardiac/trauma/neurosurgery) located in New Westminster, BC, with 439 acute beds and nearly 80,000 visits annually. Detailed Overview Reporting to the Supervisor, MRI and Site Coordinator, Medical Imaging, the MRI Technologist practices in accordance with professional standards and a client- and family-centered care model in Fraser Health. The MRI Technologist performs MRI examinations in accordance with departmental policy and procedures. Duties include receiving and completing requisitions, entering data into the radiology information system, preparing examination trays and patients, operating imaging equipment, processing and archiving data, and monitoring patients and equipment performance during procedures. Responsibilities Perform MRI examinations in accordance with established procedures, complete requisitions, prepare patients, perform venipuncture for contrast media injections as directed, operate equipment, label records and ensure standards are followed. Monitor patients during procedures and respond to possible contrast media reactions or emergencies; may perform CPR as needed. Conduct image studies, verify patient information, and report equipment malfunctions. Facilitate workflow by verifying requisitions, managing examination timing, and coordinating with staff. Perform quality control and coordinate equipment maintenance as required. Participate in quality improvement programs and monitor compliance with policies. Maintain work areas, stock supplies, and support orientation of new staff. Contribute to patient and hospital records in information systems and respond to inquiries as needed. Generate workload statistics and participate in departmental reporting; assist in service improvement recommendations. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety requirements and participate in safety training. Participate in approved research and special projects as directed. Maintain equipment operation and arrange for repairs as required. Comply with safety requirements and report unsafe situations immediately. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Training and Experience Certification with CAMRT (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice and one (1) year recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. CPR - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level. Skills and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of CAMRT standards and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners. Knowledge of evidence-based practice for MRI and related modality. Understanding of department policies, safety procedures, and PACS/radiology information systems. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, staff and external partners. Ability to work independently and in collaboration; ability to plan workload priorities. Proficiency in MRI techniques and equipment, CPR techniques, and general computer skills. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
