We are committed to equity, diversity, inclusion, and reconciliation.OverviewThis full‑time Finance Associate reports to the Senior Manager of Finance and supports payroll processing, journal entries, and benefits administration. You will work under tight deadlines while ensuring accuracy and compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess weekly payroll (union dues, benefits, RRSP deductions, etc.) and enter payroll journal entries into the general ledger.Maintain employee insurance and benefits records and manage vacation, sick leave, and leave entitlements.Prepare and file payroll remittances (ROE, filings, T4, T4A, government and union remittances).Verify and reconcile timesheets before payroll processing.Ensure payroll practices comply with collective agreements (wage scales, overtime rules, shift premiums).Assist with accounts payable as needed and help prepare the annual financial audit.Stay current with employment standards, tax changes, and union legislation and maintain detailed records for compliance and internal controls.Other Financial ResponsibilitiesPeriodically assist with Accounts Payable and audit preparation.Maintain records and audit trails for compliance and internal controls.Provide strong, collaborative internal customer service.Complete additional tasks as required.Qualifications2+ years professional accounting/finance experience, preferably with payroll experience.Experience in a mixed union and non‑union environment.Passion or interest for theatre and the performing arts.Experience in a not‑for‑profit environment considered an asset.Payroll systems experience (ADP Workforce Now preferred) and accounting software (ActivityHD preferred; Microsoft Excel required).Excellent interpersonal skills and a problem‑solving mindset.Ability to manage priorities, work accurately under tight deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.Union agreement payroll experience is an asset.Position DetailsFull‑time position beginning January 2026 (flexible).35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with some flexibility.Salary range $50,000‑$55,000 per annum, commensurate with skills and experience.Comprehensive compensation package including extended health, dental, retirement, and complimentary ticket benefits.Must be legally able to work in Canada, provide a recent police information check, and sign the theatre’s employee handbook and health & safety policies.How to ApplySubmit a cover letter and resume via email to Alison von Krause, Senior Manager of Finance at careers@grandtheatre.com with subject “Finance Associate – Full Time”.
