Opportunity The Manager, Diagnostic Imaging provides leadership to staff across multiple DI areas, supports the department’s quality management, and ensures imaging safety. Working alongside the DI operations manager, the role ensures safe, high‑quality, cost‑effective care aligned with strategic priorities. The Manager collaborates with internal teams and external partners to enhance patient care, support clinical planning, and drive continuous improvement across services. Responsibilities include initiating, organizing, coordinating, controlling, and evaluating clinical‑administrative activities across various modalities and non‑clinical areas within DI. Responsibilities Lead divisions through change related to new initiatives, workflow reorganization, and financial challenges. Participate in consultation processes regarding DI direction and operations. Collaborate with staff, physicians, and managers to uphold quality assurance and practice standards, including: Improve or develop new care and service models. Identify and resolve issues affecting patient safety or care quality. Promote a safe work environment by addressing potential risks. Gather user feedback to improve DI services. Serve as a liaison across departments, programs, and partners on clinical, research, and service matters. Represent Diagnostic Imaging on IWK Health and provincial committees and task groups. Act as a resource for provincial and Maritime‑level imaging services. Stay informed on new and emerging medical imaging technologies. Develop and implement divisional goals and action plans aligned with strategic priorities. Communicate with health‑care providers regarding complex diagnostic results. Apply effective leadership principles in team interactions, issue resolution, and workload prioritization. Recruit staff. Exercise fiscal oversight with budget and annual business planning. Procure DI services and equipment. Qualifications Graduate of a Medical Radiation Technologist or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program, and/or a relevant imaging or health professional degree (BSc, BHSc). Post‑graduate training in hospital administration or management is an asset. Experience with quality management programs is an asset. Registered, or eligible to be registered, with the applicable health professional licensing body (national, provincial, or both). Minimum five (5) years of experience in clinical healthcare, including at least two (2) years in a leadership or management role. A combination of education and experience may be considered if completion of a required management program can be achieved within a specified time frame. Experience in all Diagnostic Imaging modalities is preferred. Knowledge of Accreditation Canada standards and business planning processes is an asset. Strong skills in time management, organization, and problem‑solving. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Ability to build and maintain partnerships. Commitment to family‑centred care. Hours of Work Monday to Friday; business hours; occasional on‑call.
