Senior Data Engineer Alternate/Related Job Titles: Data Engineer (Senior) Data Warehouse Engineer ETL/Data Pipeline Engineer IAM Data Engineer Location: Toronto, ON Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid In office 2 days/week until 2026, then 4 days/week required Toronto, ON Contract Details: Position Type: Contract Contract Duration: 12+ months Possible Extension: Yes Possible Conversion to FTE: Yes Start: As Soon As Possible Job Summary The Senior Data Engineer will join the Chief Information Security Office (CISO) within the Workforce Identity and Access Management (IAM) division, supporting governance, analytics, and risk‑reduction initiatives across enterprise security. The engineer will build automated data pipelines, develop complex SQL logic, support a data lake/warehouse environment, and deliver actionable insights to enhance IAM posture across the bank. This is a highly technical, hands‑on role requiring strong data engineering expertise, security awareness, and cross‑functional collaboration. Key Responsibilities Data Engineering & Development Design, build, and automate data pipelines and data stores across multiple systems. Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts for data extraction, transformation, and analysis. Build metadata‑driven, reusable, and highly configurable data solutions. Drive the design and implementation of ETL processes. Optimize data warehouses through improved data modeling, indexing, and partitioning strategies. Develop, support, and expand a data lake environment for scalable storage and analytics. Analytics, Governance & Security Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with regulatory and security standards. Implement data governance and data quality frameworks. Provide precise analytical solutions based on data requirements from system owners and stakeholders. Produce accurate reporting to support security controls and decision‑making. Technical Support & Continuous Improvement Troubleshoot complex data issues and support internal teams with warehouse or pipeline problems. Research and recommend enhancements to processes, automation, and systems. Maintain documentation for systems, data flows, and procedures. Integrate the data warehouse with cloud and on‑premises systems as needed. Collaboration & Agile Delivery Work within an agile team, iterating rapidly and releasing improvements frequently. Coordinate with IAM, security, engineering, and business stakeholders. Communicate highly technical concepts in clear, business‑friendly language. Required Experience 8+ years total experience in data engineering or database administration. Proven experience in: Complex SQL development Building automated data pipelines Data warehouse architecture and optimization ETL design and implementation XML, XLSX, JSON, CSV and structured/unstructured data sources Experience with SailPoint and BeanShell scripting. Strong communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex topics. Preferred Experience Java development experience (TBC / nice to have). PowerShell scripting. Experience in IAM, security analytics, or related environments. Experience working within large financial institutions.
