Sr. Employee Relations Manager – OpenText Join the OpenText America Employee Relations team as a key member of the newly developed Employee Relations Centre of Excellence. Reporting to the Director of Employee Relations, this hybrid role (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) will be based in either Waterloo or Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. Your Impact Coach, mentor, and evaluate members of the Employee Relations team. Consult with leaders on performance cases, providing objective feedback that motivates improvement. Lead investigations: assemble teams, interview witnesses, review cases, recommend actions, and support implementation of corrective measures. Navigate complex, emotionally charged issues with composure and impartiality. Mediation: reduce workplace conflict by resolving employee issues. Policy management: draft and revise policies in response to changing environments and legal requirements. Oversee complex leave situations in partnership with HR Shared Services and Benefits. Collaborate with Legal and HR to analyze facts and recommend resolution of HR legal matters. Interpret and apply labor and employment laws across the Americas (U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, etc.). Assist leaders in diagnosing and resolving issues through questioning, listening, and risk assessment. Lead compliance responsibilities aligned with OpenText’s global governance framework. Apply company policies and applicable law to reduce risk. Collaborate with internal and external legal counsel as needed. Support organizational merger and acquisition activities. Produce monthly and quarterly Employee Relations reports, interpreting data to recommend positive change. Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity in all HR data handling. What You Need To Succeed Bachelor’s degree or equivalent HR experience. 12+ years of HR experience with a strong focus on Employee Relations. Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to handle difficult situations and mediate when required. Proficiency in conducting neutral, timely investigations. Sound judgment and a commitment to confidentiality. Strong prioritization, organization, and project management skills. Expertise in analyzing complex situations and recommending optimal solutions. Ability to mentor, develop, and coach partners and team members. High level of expertise in U.S. and/or Canadian employment law. Business acumen and experience in a large global organization. Strong ethical standards and transparency. SHRM‑SCP or similar certification an asset. Fluency in French or Portuguese considered a bonus.
