Position Title Senior Producer, Marketplace, English Services, (On‑Site) Location & Schedule Broadcast Centre 205 Wellington St. W., Toronto, Ontario, M5V 3G7 (On‑site, with some work‑from‑home flexibility). Full time. Reporting Reporting to the Executive Producer of Marketplace. About Marketplace Marketplace, Canada’s award‑winning investigative consumer program, is looking for an exceptional leader to supervise our team and continue owning the biggest consumer news stories worldwide. The Senior Producer will assign, develop and vet content from the world’s top journalists and field producers. Key Responsibilities Lead the production team as a proven newsroom leader, shaping stories through a consumer lens while mindful of the program’s budget. Develop pitches and research, plan investigations with depth and pivot to responsive, quick‑turn stories that make news. Manage distribution of investigative content across multiple platforms and liaise with CBC News leaders to maximize audience reach. Review footage, paper edits, and rough cuts, providing constructive feedback to improve storytelling speed and quality. Maintain calm under intense pressure, using exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to mentor, motivate, and inspire the team. Champion inclusive and respectful work culture, handling difficult conversations when necessary to improve the workplace. Innovate video storytelling techniques to reach audiences beyond traditional media, ensuring stories resonate on on‑demand, live, social, and streaming platforms. Apply strong journalistic judgement and knowledge of CBC’s standards, media law, and investigative practices. Qualifications & Experience Seven years of investigative journalism experience, preferably with a consumer focus. Three to five years of leadership experience in a newsroom. Ability to choose relevant, audience‑focused stories that reflect issues discussed by the public. Experience conceiving, planning, shaping and vetting news content under tight deadlines. Proven ability to lead through change with excellent editorial judgement. Excellent understanding of TV, social media, and on‑demand platforms. Track record of creativity and experimenting with different formats and treatments. Track record of promoting an inclusive and respectful work culture. Track record of elevating diverse perspectives, ideas, and differing points of view. Demonstrated ability to coach, inspire, and bring out the best in a team. Demonstrated ability to work in a high pressure environment with tight deadlines. Demonstrated ability to pivot when breaking news happens. Solid understanding of CBC Journalistic Standards and Practices. Flexibility to adapt to changing work patterns and methods. Additional Information This is a one‑year temporary role with a scheduled unposting date of 2026‑01‑22 11:59 PM. Applicants may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
