About Our Opportunity The Public Safety and Policing Advisor will provide consultative, research and advisory services on all matters relating to public safety. Key responsibilities include: Monitoring and amending public safety programs to align with departmental priorities and public safety needs. Representing the Province and Department of Justice on federal, provincial and territorial committees. Serving as liaison on interdepartmental committees. Collaborating with policing, government and community partners to enhance public safety. Conducting research, assessing, and making recommendations on current programs. Managing projects that support the delivery of public safety programs, including reviewing, analyzing, and developing new program areas. Advancing police modernization initiatives and ensuring stakeholder engagement through strategic change management and communications. Primary Accountabilities Assess programs and policies, making recommendations or developing alternatives to enhance public safety. Prepare written material such as briefing notes, submissions to Executive Council, correspondence, discussion papers and proposals. Identify, analyze and respond to emergent issues on behalf of the Division. Manage work products, allocate resources efficiently, and lead projects and associated plans. Qualifications And Experience The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and five years of related experience in project management or program review. A combination of education and experience will also be considered. Required skills and knowledge include: Knowledge of factors influencing public safety issues. Ability to assess and provide objective findings and recommendations. Strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. Budgeting experience for successful delivery of work. Previous experience in managing multiple projects and deadlines, and administration of legislation and policies. Excellent verbal and written skills with attention to detail. Problem‑solving ability and decision‑making in consultation with senior leadership.
