Mechanical Engineering Specialist Avidbots Corp. Location: Kitchener Work arrangement: Hybrid with 3 days per week on site About the role Ready to build the future of robotics with us? Avidbots is growing fast and we’re looking for a passionate Mechanical Engineering Specialist to join our team. What you’ll do Design and development of robotic subsystems and components, from concept to production. Build and test prototypes, conduct experiments, collect data to validate designs and identify improvement areas. Support and enhance existing robotic products through troubleshooting, design improvements, and performance optimisation. Work with senior engineers and vendors to ensure designs are manufacturable, assemblable, and cost‑effective. Create clear engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Collaborate within cross‑functional teams, participate in design reviews and problem‑solving discussions. Continuously learn new tools, processes and principles, contributing to design workflow improvement. What we’re looking for Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field. 2‑4 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in robotics or automation, or in complex electromechanical systems. Proficiency in 3D CAD software (On‑Shape preferred). Understanding of DFM and DFA principles. Familiarity with machining, sheet‑metal fabrication, injection molding. Hands‑on experience with prototyping and testing. Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills. Good communication and collaboration skills. Strong desire to learn and grow in a fast‑paced engineering environment. Successfully complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements, including background checks. Bonus points if you have Passion for robotics and cutting‑edge technology. Understanding of GD&T and its application in mechanical design. Experience designing plastic components. Basic understanding of electrical, software or firmware principles as they relate to mechanical design. Experience with FEA, thermal analysis or other simulations. Experience using Jira & Confluence.
