Position Summary The Laser & CNC Programmer is responsible for processing and programming orders for laser and CNC cutting machines using specialized software. This role ensures timely and efficient workflow for the fabrication team, optimizes material usage, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be detail‑oriented, adaptable, and collaborative, with a strong understanding of technical drawings and machine programming. Responsibilities Program laser and CNC cutting machines using designated software. Interpret technical drawings and set up tooling for specific materials and features. Optimize sheet layouts to minimize scrap and achieve material utilization of at least 90%. Ensure programming KPIs are met or sustained, including On‑Time Delivery, Quality, Productivity, and Continuous Improvement. Cross‑train on multiple cutting stations to provide coverage and backup across the team. Troubleshoot programming and machine issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and internal customers. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy and efficiency. Prioritize workload to meet deadlines in a dynamic, changing environment. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Grade 12 education; post‑secondary education or relevant experience preferred. Proficiency in MS Office tools and Microsoft Teams. Strong problem‑solving and communication skills (verbal and written). High attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively. Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. Willingness to learn and operate other CNC sheet metal manufacturing equipment, such as brake presses. Ability and willingness to train other employees on the proper operation of the laser machine. Preferred Skills Experience with laser and CNC programming software. Familiarity with fabrication processes and tooling setup. Ability to adapt to changing schedules and priorities.
