The company has 1200+ colleagues in 75+ countries with very few office-based roles. Teams meet two to four times yearly in person at locations around the world to align on strategy and execution. The role is remote globally.We are hiring a Senior Site Reliability Engineer. Next-gen operations at scale, with pure Python infra-as-code, from bare metal to containers and applications, to perfect enterprise infrastructure devops. We run hundreds of private cloud, Kubernetes, and application clusters for customers across physical and public cloud estates, and we are raising the bar on automation by embracing a universal operator pattern and model-driven operations.ResponsibilitiesArchitect and run OpenStack, Kubernetes and software defined storage, and enable devsecops for applications running on that infrastructure.Apply Python software engineering skills and rigor to the operations domain in a DevSecOps posture from bare metal to application.Learn the entire stack, from bare metal networking and kernel up to serverless and open source applications, and drive automation as software engineering.Work in a high-pressure operations environment with mission-critical services for global brand-name customers.Upskill and stay current with cloud technologies as the state of the art evolves.What we are looking for in youDegree in Software Engineering or Computer ScienceExperience with Linux and familiarity with Linux networking and storagePython software development expertiseOperational experienceExcellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountabilityAbility to travel internationally twice a year, for company events up to two weeks longNice-to-haveExperience with OpenStack or Kubernetes deployment or operationsFamiliarity with public or private cloud managementWhat we offerDistributed work environment with twice-yearly team sprints in personPersonal learning and development budget of USD 2,000 per yearAnnual compensation review and a performance-driven annual bonus or commissionAdditional benefits aligned with local needs and global fairnessTravel opportunities to meet colleagues and participate in company eventsEmployee Assistance ProgrammeAbout CanonicalCanonical is a pioneering tech firm at the forefront of the global move to open source.
