The role involves supporting the hiring, coaching, and mentoring of camp staff, as well as facilitating staff training and overseeing program quality and organization. Senior Day Camp Coordinators play a key role in planning and delivering the Accessibility and Inclusion program while maintaining effective communication with the Y Contact Centre, Y childcares, and parents or guardians. Acting as a liaison between Regional Directors and Camp Directors, the position contributes to the ongoing success and growth of day camp programs. Through leadership, coordination, and hands‑on support, the role ensures an engaging, well‑organized, and inclusive camp experience for all participants. In this role, you will: Provide leadership to Camp Directors, Camper Care Leads, Inclusion Counsellors, and camp staff through hiring, training, coaching, and monitoring performance throughout the summer Plan and facilitate high-quality training for Day Camp staff prior to the beginning of camp, attending all staff trainings and meetings on time and actively participating Develop and provide high-quality Day Camp programs, including specialized program delivery for outdoor activities and art programs Support Camp Directors in ensuring camps run programs according to program manuals, meet expectations, and provide feedback through evaluations while keeping all documentation organized Conduct thorough, professional, and detailed intake calls for registration, provide participant profiles and camper program information to required camps and staff, and support campers experiencing challenges by collaborating with parents/guardians and staff members Follow up with Camp Directors to ensure all administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time, including program schedules, payroll, accident/incident submissions, camper attendance, documentation of behaviours, communication, and withdrawals Maintain a high level of customer service by checking and responding to voicemail and emails in a timely manner, resolving parent/guardian escalations respectfully, communicating with childcare supervisors and staff on a need‑to‑know basis, and following up with Regional Directors daily Support Camp Directors or Camper Care Leads with parent/guardian communication through email, phone, or in‑person meetings Monitor expenditures, ensure purchases stay within budget, submit invoices and receipts weekly, and assist with purchasing, picking up, and dropping off supplies to assigned camp locations Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed and maintained, and contribute to the cleaning, safety, and maintenance of camp sites Act as a positive role model for campers and staff by embodying YMCA values, policies, procedures, Day Camp guidelines, and Ontario Camping Association standards Perform other duties as assigned You bring: Post‑secondary education (or currently enrolled) preferred, or equivalent experience Minimum 2 years’ experience in child‑oriented programs, with camp‑specific experience preferred Experience working with children and youth with disabilities in recreation and leisure programs, with camp experience considered an asset. Experience as a supervisor considered an asset Standard First Aid & CPR‑C required by the first day of employment and valid until at least the last day of the contract Daily access to a vehicle with a valid license and the ability to travel within the assigned region Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and in a team environment Well‑developed interpersonal and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to establish rapport and communicate effectively with families, staff, and volunteers Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a group of children Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging Focus on the health, safety and wellbeing of all children, youth, and vulnerable people in YMCA programs including understanding legal and moral obligations related to reporting suspected abuse to Child Protection Services YMCA Competencies: Accountable, Relationship‑Builder, Improvement‑Orientated, Team Player & Leader, Equity and Wellbeing Promoter Why work for the YMCA?
