Corporate Accountant

Overview Company & Department: Emera Inc. FinanceLocation: Halifax, Nova ScotiaWe are currently looking for a Corporate Accountant to join our Corporate Accounting Team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Senior Corporate Accountant, the Corporate Accountant will play a key role in the budgeting, forecasting, and monthly close process of Emera’s corporate entities. Responsibilities Leading the preparation of the annual budget, semi-annual forecasts, and annual long‑term forecast. Preparing monthly journal entries and detailed account reconciliations and analysis. Assisting with the preparation of the Company’s quarterly and annual external Financial Statements, Notes and Management Discussion and Analysis, as well as other quarterly deliverables. Assisting internal and external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits. Responsibility for internal control over financial reporting in accordance with Emera’s SOX program. Collaborating with other Emera departments to provide financial information. Preparing other ad hoc analysis and reports as required. Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Commerce with 2+ years of related work experience and have completed or are working toward a professional accounting designation (CPA). Experience in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting. Experience with financial reporting systems and Excel. Ability to effectively communicate with various departments and comfortable presenting information to senior management. Knowledge of the gas and utility industry would be considered an asset but is not required. Detail oriented and possesses strong quantitative, analytical, and organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline driven, team‑focused environment, with the ability to handle multiple deliverables and work independently under tight deadlines. Have a solid business acumen, is customer focused and innovative, with the ability to identify and implement improved processes. Benefits Flexibility: Hybrid work model.
