Position Overview:

Our client is one of Canada’s largest and most diversified infrastructure companies. They de-risk the most challenging parts of construction by offering vertically integrated infrastructure solutions for public and private projects of every scale. A leader in energy efficiency, they are at the forefront of incorporating recycled and reused materials into their production and delivery.

Currently, they are seeking an experienced Director, Financial Reporting to join their growing finance team. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, the Director will play a critical role in preparing and delivering the company’s consolidated financial results. This is an ideal role for a seasoned CPA looking for both a broad mandate and an opportunity to flex your technical and consolidation abilities. Given the organization’s growth trajectory, increased authority and scope is expected over time. W An individual with a mind for continuous improvement and who enjoys being in a fast-paced environment will succeed in this role.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Oversee preparation and accuracy of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements along with note disclosures.
  • Act as a thought leader within the organization to provide training and guidance on accounting standards and practice.
  • Lead and coordinate the annual audit process.
  • Participate in setting financial policies and accounting procedures surrounding new projects and provide accounting training/guidance to operation finance teams.
  • Support M&A activities, including due diligence, integration planning, post-acquisition valuation and PPA accounting.
  • Develop, implement and monitor internal controls and implement risk mitigation strategies in accordance with industry standards.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within the accounting function and implement best practices to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and productivity. Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and emerging accounting standards.
  • Support ad hoc projects and initiatives in a fast-paced & growing organization.

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least six years of experience working with financial statements, including consolidation & technical accounting.
  • A CPA (or equivalent) with a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Excellent understanding of accounting principles, relevant accounting standards (e.g., GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Results-driven with an ability to deliver success in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outcome-focused, critical thinker with the ability to analyze and visualize to ensure continuous improvement across our business.
  • Hard-working, prompt, organized, effective, detailed, and has a meticulous follow-up.
  • Strong ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple competing priorities, while meeting all deadlines.
  • Experience at an accounting/audit firm is an asset.
  • Working knowledge in JDE and or Workiva/Wdesk is an asset.
