Job Overview Engine Field Service Technician (Local) at Cummins Inc. in Fort McMurray, Alberta. The role supports operations at Suncor as a diesel technician/mechanic. Responsibilities Engage customers in a courteous and professional manner. Anticipate and ensure prompt efficient attention to customer needs. Use specialized tools and follow documented procedures to diagnose and complete less complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools. Perform preventative maintenance activities per documented schedules and standards on engine and related components in the field. Escalate unresolved issues to more experienced Field Service Technicians and/or Supervisor. Complete required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, and quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens. Identify additional service opportunities with customers. Complete training in line with skill and business requirements. Maintain service vehicle and tools for cleanliness and proper operation. Ensure adherence to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation. Report any issues/incidents to site management and supervisor. Requirements Heavy‑Duty Red Seal certification (off‑road is mandatory). Valid driver’s abstract and red seal certification copy required. Ability to read and interpret repair instructions, schematics, and service data. Experience Basic level field service work experience. Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products. Customer‑facing service experience. Experience working on Komatsu products (asset). High Voltage / Low Voltage experience (asset). Mining experience is an asset as the position supports the mining team. About The Role Safety‑sensitive position. Shift: 14 shifts on, 14 shifts off rotation (day and night). Work at Suncor Base Plant. Position supports the mining team. No accommodation; Cummins offers a $1,000 monthly allowance for travel expenses. Transportation to the work site is the responsibility of the employee (ride‑share available). Random drug and alcohol testing on site. Service vehicle and tooling are provided. Cummins offers a $5,000 sign‑on bonus for this position. Premiums are associated with this position. Compensation & Benefits Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
