Facility Maintenance Planner

Facility Maintenance Planner Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is seeking a Facility Maintenance Planner. The position is permanent, full‑time, and requires bi‑weekly work of 80 hours. Applicants should be available Monday to Friday and will be based in Fort McMurray. Salary starts at $61.05 bi‑weekly (Market Rate) with a permanent rate of $62.65 and bi‑weekly COLA of $480. Responsibilities Prepare and issue technical facility operational specifications for tenders, facility operation contracts, and related documents. Plan, schedule, and liaise with contractors, building property management, and site caretakers. Coordinate and oversee small, multidisciplinary projects as required. Recommend cost‑effective strategies and integrate control philosophies into building management. Ensure contractor safety orientation and compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal laws. Prepare, execute, and present detailed statistical reports for all service aspects. Control project costs and administer the Property Management Contract where applicable. Develop and implement a Key Performance Indicator system for contract management. Guide and delegate tasks to building operators and administrators. Assist in developing facility management plans aligned with organizational goals. Resolve customer/client issues promptly and improve processes for cost optimization. Review operations regularly to identify issues and inconsistencies. Support the development and administration of the operational budget. Plan workloads, allocate resources, and implement operational plans. Identify risk factors and develop mitigation plans. Adjust workflow and scope to meet business expectations. Create operational schedules and manuals for non‑process equipment and assets. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Proven analytical, planning, and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service. Ability to prepare and present technical reports and schedules. Proficiency with facility management/planning software and integration of building management systems. Experience with troubleshooting and programming of integrated building management systems and building automation. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project). Extensive knowledge of Alberta building and fire codes (e.g., Canadian Electrical, NAFT, CSA Gas). Experience developing budgets and operational projects. Strong time‑management skills. Education and Experience Journeyperson certification in Electrician, Carpenter, Plumber/Gasfitter, or equivalent, with four years of journeyperson experience plus two years of progressive facility management planning experience. Or Diploma in Construction/Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Engineering Design Technology, Building Environmental Systems, or related field, with five years of operational facility planning experience. Or 4th Class Power Engineering Certification with seven years of building operating experience and two years of progressive facility management planning. Asset Management and Asset Planning professional designations are an asset. Certificate in Facility Management Planning is an asset. Other Requirements Submission of a Criminal Record Check. Valid Class 5 Operator’s Licence (personal or municipal vehicle use).
