The Ministry is responsible for: developing and evaluating curriculum; teacher development and certification; supporting students with diverse learning needs; funding and supporting school boards; First Nations, Métis and Inuit and Francophone education; and overseeing basic education policy and regulations. Reporting to the Manager of Intergovernmental Relations, the National School Food Program (NSFP) Coordinator plays a key role in delivering Alberta’s commitments under the Alberta-Canada NSFP Agreement. As the primary liaison for education stakeholders across the province, you will manage communication, data collection, evaluation, and reporting to ensure program success. Your responsibilities include: Leading annual and interim reporting on federal funding. Coordinating surveys and analyzing data to inform decision‑making. Acting as the main point of contact for school jurisdictions and stakeholders. Supporting intergovernmental negotiations and providing policy advice. Managing timelines and compliance with federal requirements. This position also involves representing Alberta at intergovernmental tables, preparing briefing materials, and collaborating with internal and external partners to advance school nutrition programming. Develop networks: Cultivates trust with a wide range of individuals connected to school nutrition programming who may have competing priorities including superintendents, school administrators, parents, students, and organizations delivering school nutrition. Creative Problem Solving: Connects with a wide range of individual and group stakeholders to collect information and develop a shared understanding of issues. Coordinates and works collaboratively to resolve problems by creating common processes and procedures. Build Collaborative Environments: Organizes and participates in cross‑departmental meetings with project managers, staff, directors and executive directors to understand internal processes, refine existing processes as needed, and ensure compliance with terms and conditions of the Agreement. b>Qualifications University graduation in Public Administration, Education, Business or a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis. The position requires the following knowledge, skills and experiences: Sound knowledge and experience in policy development and policy coordination processes (i.e., issue identification, research and analysis, options development, consultation, decision‑making, implementation, evaluation/performance measurement). Assets Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Fluency in French is considered an asset. Experience with school and school system operations. Knowledge of grant management processes. Strong political acumen with the ability to adapt to changing priorities. Awareness of Canadian federalism and jurisdictional responsibilities in education. Understanding of Alberta’s K–12 education system and the School Nutrition Grant program. Advanced analytical, reasoning, judgment, and problem‑solving skills. Ability to foster and navigate complex relationships with high‑level stakeholders. Exceptional organizational skills to manage competing priorities and deadlines. Proficiency with technology and various software tools (Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, etc.). This is a full‑time temporary position until Aug 31, 2027, working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Work location is in Edmonton. A cover letter is required.
