About Pacific Blue Cross Pacific Blue Cross (PBC) has been British Columbia's leading benefits provider for over 80 years. We are an independent, not-for-profit society with strong roots in BC’s health care system. We provide health, dental, life, disability, and travel coverage to 1 in 3 British Columbians through employee group plans and individual plans. We are fueled by a commitment to keep health care sustainable for all British Columbians. Through our PBC Health Foundation, we fund projects that improve health outcomes directly related to mental health and wellbeing as well as the prevention and/or management of chronic disease. We are interested in finding people who want to make a difference and who are looking to grow their career with us. Perks Flexible working hours of 7.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday (i.e., 37.5 hours per week). Paid vacation starts at 4 weeks per year, and increases with years of service. Hybrid work environment (i.e., a combination of work from office and work from home days). Generous benefits, including extended health, dental, and life insurance; depending on the plan that you choose, these benefit premiums can be 100% paid by PBC. PBC contributes the equivalent of 8% of your base salary to a Defined Contribution pension plan. No employee contribution or matching is required, giving you more take-home pay. About the Position We are searching for a permanent Senior Compensation Advisor to join our Human Resources team. PBC's compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is $95,400 - $120,000 per year; the base pay offered is based on market and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. The starting salary will be determined based on a combination of skills, education, and experience. As a Senior Compensation Advisor, you will manage annual performance reviews, incentive compensation plan (ICP) bonuses, salary increase cycles, and total reward statements. In this position, you will lead and coordinate job evaluation activities for union and non-unionized positions that align with PBC’s compensation philosophy and the Collective Agreement. You will manage promotion processes and conduct compensation benchmarking across all role levels to maintain market competitive and internal equity. As a Senior Compensation Advisor, you guide managers and employees through job analysis and evaluation processes, preparing rating packages and recommendations for the Joint Job Evaluation Committee (JJEC). You also partner with stakeholders to create, review, and update job descriptions, ensuring clarity, alignment, and compliance with internal processes while advising on job design, factor ratings, and pay grades. You will support the market review process by benchmarking non-unionized roles against external survey data, analyzing market trends, identifying pay gaps, and recommending salary structure adjustments to ensure competitiveness, equity, and alignment with PBC’s pay philosophy. This position conducts training on job evaluation, incentive plans, and performance review programs. The Senior Compensation Advisor will ensure compliance with pay regulations (e.g. Pay Transparency Act) and analyze internal equity and market data to recommend fair and competitive pay decisions. You would partner with the Finance team on compensation budgeting and forecasting activities. Key Experiences You Bring To This Role Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline. 5 to 7 years of progressive compensation experience, preferably in a complex unionized environment. Expertise in job evaluation (point factor & market pricing), salary structure design, budgeting, and incentive pay modelling. Solid understanding of compensation legislation, collective agreements, point factor system and market survey methodologies. Experience using and maintaining compensation and performance administration system. Experience with Workday HCM will be an asset.
