Power Factors fights climate change with code.About The RoleOur team uses a mix of open source, SaaS, and internally developed tools and processes to manage and support our SCADA software product life cycle (deploy, configure, upgrade, monitor, optimize) across a fleet of 1000's of on-prem devices and multiple public and private Cloud k8s clusters.What You Will Be DoingPerform and automate deployment, maintenance, and upgrades across a fleet of servers and devicesMaintain live microservices-based applications by monitoring performance indicators such as availability, throughput, and latencyGrow systems by advocating for changes that enhance reliability, performance, and serviceabilityWork closely with development team members to support existing microservices on various deployment environments, on both cloud and on-prem infrastructureWork with technologies like Kubernetes (GKE, k3s), Cassandra, PostgreSQL, Mosquitto, Redis, Ansible, Kafka, LAMP, Git, GCE, RHELMaintain production flows and CD processes for deployment of software and infrastructure systems at scaleWhat You Will Need To Be SuccessfulWe believe you enjoy working in a purpose-driven organization and that you thrive in an environment where you need to find creative solutions to challenging problems in a fast-changing context. Specifically, we are looking for a DevOps Engineer with the following toolbox:2+ years of working experience with Kubernetes operations and containerized environments5+ years of working experience with Linux, using the GNU/Linux command line, scripting, Linux tools and servicesWorking experience with monitoring tools (Zabbix, Prometheus, Datadog, or others)A good team player, with developed communication skills, eager to learn and distribute knowledge, able to work with minimal supervision and deliver high-quality work within time limitsHighly Appreciated SkillsWorking experience with IP networking, its hardware components (routers, switches), and relevant Linux services such as DHCP, DNS, Routing, NAT, Firewalling, VPNs, VLANs, Web Servers, Forward and Reverse ProxiesHands-on experience with RHEL and variants (CentOS, ALMA Linux, Rocky)Working experience with Ansible configuration managementStrong scripting skills (Bash, Python)Application deployment experience of any level, in one or more of the following: Java, Go, PythonWe See It As An Extra Plus IfYou have professional certifications on Kubernetes such as GKAD, GKAYou have a university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar disciplinesYou have experience with modern SRE practicesYou have experience working in a fully remote team and can embrace the remote-first way of work, with its advantages, limitations, and responsibilitiesYou have experience with cloud environments (private, GCP)You see and appreciate the value of documenting your solutions for others to useYou want to help us improve our systems and processes and contribute to other teams and the productYou like to learn how things work and troubleshoot issues to their root causeYou prefer uniformity and repeatability over quick 'clever' hacksYou do not like bias toward 'good' and 'evil' tech but have sound technical arguments for your opinionsYou are not afraid to embrace new ways to do things, even if they have a steep learning curveLIFE @ POWER FACTORSWe are an agile software development company - big enough to make an impact, but small enough to move quickly and execute in a growing industry.
