Job Description Translator (Investly) – TOR at Fidelity Canada. You will be working on a flexible hybrid schedule as part of Fidelity’s dynamic working arrangement. Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings. This position is available in Toronto. Business Overview The Translation Department is a small unit within the Products and Marketing Department that is responsible for providing translation, adaptation, editing, proofreading and other linguistic services to the Fidelity organization. The department translates all marketing, financial, advertising and other material for Fidelity's large Quebec-based clients. How You’ll Make An Impact The translator’s role is to provide French translation, editing, proofreading and project management that maintain and strengthen the integrity of the Fidelity brand. He/she must ensure that all French communications, including but not limited to retail and institutional sales support material, advertising campaigns, press releases are an accurate reflection of the approved English. He/she will mostly translate documents for an investment app. The translator also helps to proofread translations done internally and externally to ensure these meet Fidelity stringent standards. Key Accountabilities Provide translation services in accordance with industry regulations and Fidelity’s high standards and deliver quality material within the deadlines. Monitor quality and make decisions in consultation with the Manager or a Senior translator, regarding terminology, language style and content. Negotiate timelines with internal partners and bring any unresolved issues to the attention of the Manager, as required. Conduct in-depth terminology research specific to the industry using the various government and specialized sources available. Maintain and improve the internal terminology base and glossary. Keep abreast of new terms and trends through French papers to ensure the language used in Fidelity’s document is both appropriate and quality focused. Experience & Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of translation experience, preferably in the financial industry or a related industry. Bachelor’s degree in Translation from a recognized institution or equivalent experience. Strong communication skills in English and French. Membership in a recognized professional association such as ATIO or OTTIAQ would be an asset. Knowledge of financial markets and terminology. Ability to translate in both languages with accuracy and appropriate style. Strong organizational skills and ability to work with changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Self‑organization and self‑management skills as well as ability to take initiative and be able to work with minimal direction. Proficiency with machine translation software, including GlobalLink.
