(KCB) office in Vancouver, BC is looking for a Senior Structural Analysis Engineer with experience on multi-disciplinary projects in the water resource infrastructure and hydroelectric market sector. This position is part of the Power & Transportation Group and involves rehabilitation of existing dams, design of new hydroelectric facilities, and civil‑structural design of water resource infrastructure. Responsibilities Perform static, dynamic and thermoelastic analyses using LS-Dyna and other commercial finite element programs. Lead a team of analysts in developing fine‑element models, running simulations, validating and interpreting results, and producing comprehensive reports. Conduct seismic analysis including response spectrum, linear & nonlinear static, and elastic & inelastic time‑history analyses. Optimize mesh generation using HyperMesh or equivalent software. Optimize structural designs and validate responses against performance requirements. Collaborate with design engineers to verify structural integrity and optimize design. Establish Working Design Basis documents and define requirement for analytical methods, models, and tools. Work with multidisciplinary teams from preliminary investigations through construction. Act as a mentor to junior and intermediate staff. Write, compile, and review technical reports. Participate in proposal preparation and business development. Visit project sites for information gathering. Travel within Canada and internationally. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience. Professional designation in BC or eligibility to apply within a year. Strong technical aptitude, knowledge and experience on design teams. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary professionals. Effective verbal and written English communication and report‑writing skills. Strong working knowledge of industry codes, standards, earthquake engineering and seismic analysis. Proficiency with LS‑DynA, Ansys, Abaqus, SAP2000, MIDAS Civil, and Midas FEA. Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Mathcad, Microsoft Word and Excel. Initiative, innovation and commitment to technical excellence. Valid driver’s licence. Ability to travel domestically and internationally. Assets: concrete dam design, spillway & intake design, penstock/tunnel design, seismic performance‑based design, Canadian Dam Association guidelines, dam safety reviews.
