You will support projects focused on dams, reservoirs, dykes, spillways, and mining/hydropower across Canada. This office-based role includes occasional field visits and supervision of field programs. Our Developing Professionals Group (DPG) connects emerging professionals with leadership, fostering technical and professional development in a global network.Your Key ResponsibilitiesSupporting engineering design and assessment of geological and/or geotechnical systems involving slope stability and settlement analysis, internal erosion assessment, monitoring programs, and othersSupervising and supporting field staff, including borehole drilling, site review, instrumentation installation and monitoringInstalling and operating instrumentation equipment, including piezometers, inclinometers and other geotechnical instrumentsSupporting management of geotechnical investigations, including field coordination with subcontractors, preparation of laboratory testing schedules, documentation of results, and budget managementBuilding and maintaining knowledge of relevant Canadian and global dam standards, industry guidelines, and current industry practicesLearning and increasing proficiency with civil and geotechnical software (e.g., CIVIL3D, GeoStudio, LeapFrog, Rocscience, FLAC, Plaxis)Participating in Stantec’s risk management and quality proceduresLeading by example for Stantec’s Health and Safety FrameworkOther general field and office-related duties as requiredYour Capabilities and CredentialsStrong technical skill set and a learning mindsetEagerness to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thoughtWillingness to work independently on assigned tasks, with support from technical leadersStrong oral and written communication skillsExperience with instrumentation installation, geotechnical investigations, slope stability analysis, and numerical modelling are assetsValid Driver’s LicenseEducation and ExperienceMinimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil/geological engineering from an accredited university. Minimum of 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience is required. Professional Engineer in good standing with the provincial association or the ability to obtain the designation. Experience in consulting or mining/hydropower is an asset.
