You will work with our team, our clients, and our sub-consultants to develop solutions to complex problems and provide high-quality deliverables.About the RoleProviding civil, structural, and utility engineering services, the Civil Structural Engineer will be responsible for completing civil, structural and utility design on some of our most important projects to our clients in the gas utility industry. You will be responsible for communication with the EMB teams, our clients, sub-consultants, and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of our projects. These responsibilities will include:Provide engineering services for various aspects of design, including creation of engineering drawings, assessing existing structures, and scope writing for additional engineering servicesWork with the Project Team and external stakeholders to provide engineered scopes, estimates and construction packagesParticipate in engineering investigations to troubleshoot, evaluate, and provide recommendations on operational issuesMaintain current detailed knowledge of design criteria, material and processes through suppliers, literature, and industry organizations and conferencesProvide input to project controls including budgeting, scheduling, forecasting and risk analysisProvide operational support as requiredAuthenticate engineering drawings and support the application of non-standard designsReview and authenticate the work of others as neededEnsure the quality of deliverables meets the expectations of EMB and our clientsTake professional responsibility for key project deliverables (drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, etc.)Main Duties:Confer with clients and other members of the engineering team and conduct research to determine project requirementsPlan and design major civil projects such as buildings, roads, bridges, dams, water and waste management systems and structural steel fabricationsDevelop construction specifications and proceduresEvaluate and recommend appropriate building and construction materialsInterpret, review and approve survey and civil design workConduct field services for civil worksEnsure construction plans meet guidelines and specifications of building codes and other regulationsEstablish and monitor construction work schedulesConduct feasibility studies, economic analyses, municipal and regional traffic studies, environmental impact studies or other investigationsPrepare contract documents and review and evaluate tenders for construction projectsQualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited institutionLicensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia, or eligible for registration following completion of required supervised experience and professional practice examination2-10 years of engineering experience in utilities, pipeline, piping, and facilities projects, or in a project engineering roleDemonstrated ability to take professional responsibility for engineering documents and deliverablesValid Class 5 BC Driver’s LicenseStrong technical background with experience in civil, structural, and utility designProven ability to lead and collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams and with external stakeholdersFamiliarity with budgeting, scheduling, risk analysis, and proposal writingExcellent communication, organizational, and planning skillsRequired SkillsProven team leadership skills with the ability to energize, motivate, and inspire othersStrong technical expertise with the ability to take professional responsibility for engineering documents and deliverablesDemonstrated success in managing and providing technical leadership on complex engineering projectsDeep understanding of client expectations, budgeting, proposal development, and delivering high-quality outcomesExceptional organizational and planning abilities, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinating resources effectivelyExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to integrity and professionalismSuccess FactorsProvides focused direction and is committed to achieving the goals of EMB and our clientsSupports, influences, and builds highly productive relationships internally and externally to accelerate project and organizational successTakes initiative and sees challenges as opportunities, always looking ahead to anticipate the needs of our team and our clientsDemonstrates relentless commitment to client experience; drives professionalism in both field and office environmentsMaintains a continuous improvement mindset and acts as a role model for othersLeverages technology to enhance quality, efficiency, and delivery of high-value servicesWorking RelationshipsThis position works frequently with:Multi-discipline Engineering project teamsEngineering, Project Management and Field Services teamsClients.Sub-consultants.Contractors.Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionEngineering and Information TechnologyIndustriesOil and Gas #J-18808-Ljbffr
