Construction Manager - Mid-rise Wood Frame - Ottawa A major Developer with a presence across Canada is looking for their newest Ottawa based Construction Manager with demonstrated experience in wood-framed mid-rise construction. The organization has a strong project pipeline with one ongoing mid-rise project, one due to break ground this month and three ready to start in 2026. Base pay range CA$130,000.00/yr - CA$150,000.00/yr Responsibilities End‑to‑End Leadership: Command the delivery of large‑scale wood‑framed apartment projects from shovel in the ground to keys in hand. Third‑Party GC/CM Oversight: Lead the selection, onboarding, and management of GC/CM partners. Hold project managers, supervisors, and trades accountable for scope, safety, schedule, and quality. Operational Grit: When GC performance slips, you step in – pushing, pulling, and problem‑solving until execution is back on track. Schedule & Budget Discipline: Guard the numbers, protect pro‑formas, deliver on promises, and identify opportunities for value engineering and efficiencies without compromising standards. Quality & Safety at Scale: Champion wood‑framed construction best practices. Own the culture of “zero shortcuts” – every site, every shift, every trade. Stakeholder Confidence: Be the voice of construction with the GC, trades and internal teams, representing certainty in a high‑stakes environment. Team Builder: Lead and mentor to align all parties in the field with our toughest standards. Owner’s Representative: Oversee in‑field construction activities carried out by our General Contracting partner on all wood‑framed apartment and multi‑family buildings in the region. Provide guidance and support for on‑site resolution, particularly those related to wood‑framed construction (moisture control, sound transmission, structural integrity, etc.). Review and interpret issued‑for‑construction drawings, provide feedback and guidance in value engineering exercises, and ensure that in‑field work is executed in conjunction with all stamped architectural and engineering drawings. Profile Skills & Experience 8+ years of progressive construction leadership with a deep track record in wood‑framed apartment delivery. Proven success in both self‑perform execution and third‑party GC/CM oversight. Mastery in holding others accountable – from site trades to executive‑level GCs. Fluency in scheduling, cost control, value engineering, and risk management. Technical mastery: complete understanding of wood‑framed construction. Critical thinking: ability to identify issues, devise solutions, and ensure immediate execution. A relevant degree in engineering or construction. Job Offer Base salary up to CA$150,000 (dependent on experience). Annual performance bonus. RRSP matching. Health/Dental benefits. Vehicle allowance. 4 weeks vacation.
