The system consists of 40 libraries located on three university campuses: St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough. This array of college libraries, special collections, and specialized libraries and information centres supports the teaching and research requirements of over 300 graduate programs, more than 70 professional programs, and about 700 undergraduate degree programs. In addition to more than 15 million volumes in 341 languages, the library system currently provides access to millions of electronic resources in various forms and over 31,000 linear metres of archival material. More than 150,000 new print volumes are acquired each year. The Libraries' data centre houses more than 500 servers with a storage capacity of 1.5 petabytes. Your opportunity: Under the general direction of the University Archivist, the Special Media Archivist appraises, acquires, accessions, arranges, describes, preserves and makes available records of archival value with specific emphasis on special media received from the university administrative offices and private donors. The Special Media Archivist provides reference service to researchers wishing to access archival holdings in general and to special media in particular. The Special Media Archivist recommends policies and procedures for the use, storage and preservation of special media records. Your responsibilities will include: Implementing plans and process improvements for archival activities Developing material acquisition strategies and plans that support preservation and research needs Meeting with potential donors to assess materials and reach agreement on the donation of material to the archives Preparing deed of gift documentation for donors Analyzing and recommending standards for the description and preservation of archival records Processing items in the physical and digital collections for researchers and users Keeping well-informed on applicable copyright, access and privacy laws Leading seminars and/or workshops Essential Qualifications: Master's Degree in Archival Studies, Library or Information, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience. Minimum of six to seven years experience working in a library/archives environment, preferably with special media collections. Excellent knowledge of archival standards and best practices Experience working with current and non-current archival and special collections Excellent written and verbal communication skills Detail-oriented; works with attention to accuracy Proven initiative, flexibility and ability to learn new technologies and organizational systems Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills Demonstrated commitment to the values of inclusivity, diversity, anti-racism, equity and accessibility Demonstrated experience preserving special media in both analog and digital format To be successful in this role you will be: Accountable Articulate Intuitive Multi-tasker Perceptive Closing Date: 11/14/2025, 11:59PM ETEmployee Group: USWAppointment Type: Budget - ContinuingSchedule: Full-TimePay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:USW Pay Band 14 -- $91,677. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $117,242.
