The Base Engineer reports to the Production Manager, ensuring that all maintenance activities are accomplished in accordance with the policies, procedures and instructions contained in the MCM, MPM, MOP and Transport Canada Requirements.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for safety reporting as well as the completion of performance assessments as outlined in the Policies and Procedure Handbook. (Policy Number HH6, section 6.04)Ensure that Task Cards are coordinated and completed regarding the overall maintenance functions within his or her control.Ensure that any and all applicable Airworthiness Directive s and inspections are accomplished within the required time period.Ensure that all work on the aircraft is scheduled and completed in a timely manner.Ensure that the Company is aware of staff attendance and performance on a weekly basis.Build daily workload in Maintenance planner, utilizing staff compliment at base.Ensure that all parts ordered for the base are received in a timely manner.Ensure that all personnel are properly utilized and any necessary ‘on the job training’ is being accomplished in order to uphold a high standard of maintenance for the aircraft.Provide and monitor training to individuals as directed by the PRM or Production Manager.Notify the PRM of any abnormalities that occur in regard to the aircraft.Liaise with dispatch (as required) to investigate any operational requirements as well as which aircraft are available.Ensure that the hangar and delegated workshops are kept clean.Ensure that maintenance personnel are instructed regarding the inspection and maintenance methods to be employed.Forecast (using an aircraft status board) aircraft inspections, component changes, defect rectification, etc. and forward them to Tech Records for recording.Maintain the base Stores room in accordance with MOP 4.5 (except for YQT stores)Maintain the base Technical LibraryEnsure that Journey Logbooks are completed and certified properly.Obtain and maintain a valid RAIC (Red Pass) and AVOP (Full “D”) for aircraft towing.Ensure proper tool control is followed.Ensure all paperwork is completed clearly and accurately, including logbooks, task cards, ect.Abide by the rules set in the CBA.Assist with aircraft movements and ensure all aircraft that are outside are properly marked with safety cones.Communicate with Flight Crews on aircraft defects.Alert the PRM or Production Manager when major components require replacement.Maintain awareness of all MELs on aircraft in their control and ensure a plan is in place.Ensure all work scheduled will have required parts and tooling.Maintain adequate levels of oil, wheel assemblies and other parts and consumables.Communicate with manufactures for troubleshooting purposes. Eg: ATR, Beech, ect.Participate in SMS and QA functions as required.Includes duties of Crew Chief, MOC, or ACA as required.Foster a healthy working environment and promote a positive climate within the workplace.Perform and uphold Wasaya’s Customer Care Commitments to both internal and external customers.Any other related duties as assignedMinimum Skills and QualificationsMust possess a valid AME license for a minimum of 5 years.Experience working on any of the following airframes: B1900D, Dash 8, ATR-42/72, PC 12/45, and C208.Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skillsAble to work well under pressure.Good working knowledge of Microsoft computer software and emailHigh level of sound and independent judgment and reasoningExcellent time management and project management skillsHighly motivated and able to work independently.Excellent computer skills, MS-Office preferable, proficient in use of internet and emailAble to work in a team environment, as well as unsupervised.Strong attention to detailAbility to maintain confidentiality.Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally always.The ability to communicate in Oji-Cree or Ojibway is an asset.Previous airline experience is an asset.Experience with and/or knowledge of First Nations Organizations is an asset.Working ConditionsOvertime as required.Travel to off-site locations may be required.Safety equipment is required.Hazards associated with trade.May be exposed to loud noise, dust, fumes, and oils.May be required to work in confined spaces.Physical RequirementsAbility to lift or move up to 50lbs.Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computers and peripherals.How to ApplyIf you are interested in this position, please submit your resume and cover letter to:Human ResourcesWasaya Airways LP201 Kelner PlaceThunder Bay, ON P7E 6V3Fax: (807) 789-1645Email:careers@wasaya.com #J-18808-Ljbffr
