Junior Environmental Engineer or Scientist (2024112230)Thurber has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Environmental Engineer or Scientist to join our team in Calgary, Alberta.Thurber provides geotechnical, environmental and construction materials engineering and testing services for a variety of industries across Canada. Our multidisciplinary expertise allows us to work on problems related to earth, the environment and construction materials.ResponsibilitiesSupport Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) and contaminated site investigations (i.e., Phase II ESAs) in soil, groundwater, surface water, and soil vapor.Work with other technical professionals and subcontractors to execute remedial options in the field.Assist in the development of detailed scopes of work and cost estimates to execute chosen remedial strategies and coordinate with subcontractors.Liaise with field staff and technical discipline leaders during project execution.Support the project team in the analysis and interpretation of project data and preparation of technical reports that meet regulatory requirements.QualificationsCompletion of a post-secondary program in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, or Civil / Geological Engineering with an environmental focus.Valid Class 5 Drivers license.Comfortable driving mid to full-sized pickup trucks in urban, rural, and construction environments.Comfortable working in a variety of environments, including local and remote construction sites.Proficiency with spoken and written English language is required.Graduate Degree (Masters or higher).Demonstrated experience delivering technical site investigations and remediation solutions.Field experience.Additional InformationCriminal Record Check may be conducted.Drug and alcohol testing may be required prior to accessing client sites.3 Year Driver's Abstract and a Claims Experience Letter will be requested.Travel may be required for the purpose of overseeing field crews, participating in off-site meetings, or training.What we offerUpon joining Thurber Engineering you'll be welcomed into a casual, inclusive and professional office environment where open communication is valued at all levels.
