This role will be responsible for contributing to key global trade compliance infrastructure elements including people, processes/procedures and training as well as collaborating closely with functional groups across the organization and championing compliant business practices in the intricate landscape of export and import regulations. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a high-energy, fast-paced environment, developing relationships with internal and external customers.The Principal Specialist, Global Trade (GT) team member will support our Canadian operations from the Oakville site, as follows:Lead the Import / Export program for Collins Aerospace – CanadaResponsible for all export and import activities from / into Canada for our Goodrich Landing Systems (Collins Aerospace) businessManage and direct the export and import compliance initiatives across our business and assist with the draft, review, training, and implementation of international trade compliance regulations, policies, procedures, and audit programs, in alignment with Collins/RTX corporate initiativesProvide support and guidance on various Global Trade initiatives, as required.What You Will DoEvaluate all government agency requirements applicable to imported /exported products (e.g. CBSA, Global Affairs, Controlled Goods Program, ITAR, EAR)Identify duty mitigation opportunities for the business and help operationalize mitigation programs to reduce financial risksTroubleshoot the clearance of imported goods when necessaryCoordinate with customs brokers regarding Importer of Record guidelines, COO, OGA (‘Other Government Agency’), ADD/CVD, and delivery of imported merchandiseDraft and manage Canadian export permits issued from Global Affairs CanadaDetermine Export Classification and Jurisdiction of items (i.e.: ECCN, USML, ECL, CGP) with support from internal stakeholders (i.e.: Engineering, Procurement)Conduct monthly site audits to ensure compliance with governmental regulationsConduct periodic customs / exports / imports compliance trainingDevelop and implement Global Trade Procedures and Standard WorkSupport Global Trade Investigations Team, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions for customs and / or GT escapes with related reporting requirementsAssist with Site GT Council Meetings and report implementation status to Site Manager and GT leadershipProvide guidance to the site on trade compliance matters (SME)Must be willing to participate in the Aircraft on Ground (AOG) afterhours program and other related compliance activitiesMust Have QualificationsTypically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior experience in Global Trade or an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum 3 years’ experience in Global TradeExperience in export and import operationsExperience with government regulations including CBSA regulationsPreferred QualificationsA Canadian Customs Broker License accreditation (“CSCB”) and/or Certified Customs Specialist designation (“CCS”)Experience in a multi-national, high-tech business environment, especially aerospace / defense sectorKnowledge of the Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Global Affairs Canada (GAC), Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)Experience in global logistics operationsFamiliarity with Canada Border Services Agency regulations , Import Export Permits Act / Export Control List, ITAR, EAR, and other countries’ laws and regulations governing customs and international tradeExperience with SAP – GTSLearn More & Apply NowPlease ensure the role type (defined below) is appropriate for your needs before applying to this role.Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite.
