Position Type: Casual up to 36.25 hours/week

Duration: August 2024 to December 2024

Salary Range: $28.39 to $40.00 hourly. Successful candidates may be eligible for a higher maximum step, up to $43.68 hourly, based on their level of post-secondary education.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Required qualifications for this opportunity include a high school diploma, or equivalency
  • A valid Journeyperson Certificate of Qualification in Construction or Industrial Electrical with a Red Seal Certificate
  • A working knowledge of MS Office is required.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have a minimum of three (3) years of related, recent work experience at the Journeyperson's level.
  • Preference may be given to candidates who have experience teaching in a post-secondary environment in a blended delivery format.

Responsibilities

You will be collaborating with and reporting to the Business Development Manager, School of Professional & Part-time Learning. As a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific instructional areas and courses within the program may include but are not limited to:

  • Trade related safety
  • AC/DC theory,
  • Wiring, single and three phase motors,
  • Drives
  • Generators and digital electronics.

The successful incumbent must also be well versed in the use and interpretation of the Canadian Electrical Code as it relates to the above areas as well as be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.
