Fire / Building Code Engineer - Junior, Intermediate and Senior PositionsMatteo Gilfillan and Associates Inc. (MGA) is a Canadian Building and Fire Code consulting firm providing services in the fields of fire protection and life safety. MGA provides Code consulting services and solutions on building designs and concepts, prepares alternative solution proposals, conducts integrated system testing, and conducts building inspections / audits for a variety of project types, building sizes and occupancies.MGA is looking to expand their team by adding skilled, self‑motivated Building Code/Fire Protection Consultants who can apply the Building and Fire codes to new construction, renovation and existing building projects. The successful candidate will work in a team environment. Positions are available at junior, intermediate and senior levels.Duties and ResponsibilitiesInterpreting and applying building and fire codes to new construction, renovation and existing buildingsPreparing code reports and other technical documentationAssisting senior staff in the development and documentation of Alternative Solution ProposalsInspecting and evaluating existing buildings with respect to the Ontario Fire CodeProviding technical support and assistance on projects, including related administrative dutiesCommunicating with clients, authorities and staff alike in a professional mannerConducting business development – generate new opportunities and build client basePreparing project proposalsInvolvement with professional development opportunities (conferences, seminars, presentations, etc.)Skills and QualificationsDegree in Engineering, Architecture or Diploma in Fire Protection or Architectural TechnologyCode‑related industry experience is an asset (but not necessary) for junior positions. Intermediate candidates should have a minimum of 4‑5 years of experience. Senior candidates should have at least 8 years of experienceWorking knowledge of the Ontario Building and Fire Codes and associated StandardsUnderstanding of fire and life safety engineering principlesKnowledge of building design and constructionExcellent communication skills (verbal and written) in EnglishAbility to work on multiple projects at a timeFlexibility to adjust to changing priorities and workloadsStrong work ethic with attention to detailProficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office softwareAbility to work efficiently to meet client project deadlinesFocus on customer serviceAbility to travel for meetings and building audits, predominantly in Toronto and the surrounding areaSeniority LevelJunior – no minimum experience required; junior positions may not require prior code‑related industry experienceIntermediate – minimum 4‑5 years of experienceSenior – minimum 8 years of experienceEmployment TypeFull‑timeJob FunctionManagement and manufacturing #J-18808-Ljbffr
