Lead Programmer – Tactic StudiosWe are seeking an experienced Lead Programmer to manage a team of seasoned programmers for an unannounced multiplayer, third-person game. Candidates should have a proven track record of leading large programming teams on complex, multi‑year projects for the latest generation of consoles.ResponsibilitiesLead a team of programmers, assigning tasks, reviewing code, and providing clear direction to meet project needs.Collaborate with the technical director to establish and implement high‑level architecture decisions for our proprietary game engine.Research academic papers and emerging technologies to advance our engine.Design, implement, and maintain bug‑free multiplayer code that meets design requirements.Debug, optimize, and modify code to uphold quality, readability, and reliability standards.Review, playtest, and verify code to ensure correctness, robustness, and fun.Collaborate with designers and artists to create functional, easy‑to‑use engine and game systems.Coordinate with external partners and represent the company technically as needed.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.Minimum 5 years of game development experience with at least 1 shipped AAA title in a lead role.Expert proficiency with C++ and Java.Expertise in architecting robust, well‑written, and efficient solutions to complex technical problems.Deep knowledge of multiple game programming subfields, with expertise in at least one subfield.Experience writing and debugging code inside a proprietary or commercial C++ 3D game engine such as Unreal Engine.Experience writing multiplayer code.Motivated self‑starter with exceptional technical ability and communication skills.Passionate about developing high‑quality video games.Bonus SkillsExperience with modeling, animation, or rigging using 3DS Max or Maya.Experience creating real‑time visual effects and particle systems.How to ApplyResume detailing your experience (required).Cover letter (preferred).References (preferred).Send the above items to jobs@tacticstudios.com with the subject "Lead Programmer".NOTE: All positions at Tactic Studios are performed remotely.
