Discover how you can make a difference in the lives of individuals, families and communities around the world.Job Description:Information Security AdvisorReporting to the Director, Security Advisory Services, the Information Security Advisor will assist business units with risk assessment and compliance matters as it relates to Information Security.The Information Security Advisor will conduct information security risk assessments on initiatives, third-party suppliers/external vendors, applications, perform security contract reviews, advise on security best practices, and review emerging security strategies. The Information Security Advisor interacts with various Sun Life business groups and teams, including but not limited to, Business, Architecture, Infrastructure, Legal, Compliance and Risk, and Privacy teams.What will you do?The successful candidate will:Provide support to Sun Life Business Group through conducting information security risk assessments, reviewing contracts to ensure inclusion of security requirements, performing supplier/third-party risk assessments, and advising on security best practices.Assess initiatives/projects to ensure implementation controls align with Sun Life Information Security policies and directives.Provide security consulting to ensure appropriate security controls are in place to safeguard and protect Sun Life confidential information from disclosure, modification, or destruction, and to improve overall security.Provide reporting to management on the status of security risk assessments, risks identified, and current activities.Offer preliminary recommendations on information security risks to management.Track and manage open security risks, ensuring remediation plans and deadlines are in place, working with risk owners for resolution.What will you need to succeed?Minimum of 5 years experience in Information Security and ITDeep knowledge of security principles, protocols, practices, and standardsExperience with security risk assessments, including cloud services like AWS and AzureUnderstanding of emerging security technologiesStrong communication and negotiation skills with senior staff and executivesExcellent report writing skillsFamiliarity with security contract clausesAbility to communicate technical concepts in business languageSelf-motivated with minimal supervision, strategic, negotiator, consensus builderAbility to work with diverse teamsDegree or diploma in relevant IT/security fields or equivalent trainingProfessional security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, CISM, CISA)Unique Requirements:Must obtain Canadian Reliability Security Clearance (submit fingerprints to RCMP)Review eligibility for clearance at Federal Government siteWhat’s in it for you?Recognized as 2024 Best Workplace in Canada by Great Place to Work2023 Most Trusted Executive team awardCanada Award for Excellence in Mental Health at WorkPension, stock, and savings plansWellness programs supporting mental, physical, and financial healthOpportunities for career growth and networking#LI-HybridThe salary range is from 63,000 to 104,000 CAD, depending on location and experience.
