Vice President, Operations & Portfolio Manager at Gold Investment Management Ltd. Gold Investment Management Ltd. is a boutique portfolio management company located in downtown Edmonton. We are seeking a Portfolio Manager to join our team. We are hoping to fill the role with an individual who is team oriented, and passionate about client service, investment and risk management, and security analysis. Under the guidance and supervision of Senior Portfolio Managers, responsibilities will include: You will work closely with our clients to build long-term relationships and deliver the high-touch discretionary investment services that they have come to expect of our boutique firm. In order to discharge our “Know Your Client” (“KYC”) obligations, you will perform annual and periodic client reviews. You will assist with new client onboardings and reviews, development of Investment Policy Statements (“IPS”), Investment Management Agreements (“IMA”) and make investment recommendations to Senior Portfolio Managers. As part of this process, you will assess investment needs and objectives, a client’s ability and willingness to take on risk, and recommend suitable portfolios based on a number of assessment factors. Act as a member of the Investment Committee and conduct security specific and sector research to assist our firm with meeting “Know Your Product” (“KYP”) obligations. You will learn and consider our firm’s investment philosophy and assess tax efficiency, trading costs and other factors when assisting with the decision-making process. You will assist in portfolio construction, rebalancing strategies and trade execution, including pre-trade and post-trade analysis to ensure portfolios are managed within their investment objectives. Assist with monitoring model portfolios and securities. Report to senior portfolio managers on performance, risk metrics, and news. Make suggestions for portfolio improvements with researched rationales and test different scenarios. You will generate and analyze performance and risk metrics while using multiple management systems. Assist with our quarterly reporting and corporate reorganization processes, and complete ad hoc project work. Qualifications: Immediately registerable as Associate Advising Representative (AAR) or Advising Representative (AR). Existing registrations transferable to a new firm are accepted. New registrations must have either: Passed CFA Level I exam and has 24 months of relevant investment management experience, or Holder of Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation and has 24 months of relevant investment management experience. BCom, Finance or MBA, Finance Advanced Excel skills, including ability to use pivot tables, common formulas, and ability to review and resolve issues Experience with Bloomberg terminal and functions Excellent listening and communication skills Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve Strong organization and attention to detail The ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage a variety of duties on a recurring schedule. Ability to maintain high-quality standards in any task A natural aptitude for providing top-tier service and fostering relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders.
