Canadian SAR Helicopter Engineering Supervisor - Structures Join to apply for the Canadian SAR Helicopter Engineering Supervisor - Structures role at IMP Aerospace & Defence. Position Overview Responsible to the CH149 Cormorant Search and Rescue (SAR) Helicopter Engineering Manager for various delegated areas of Acceptable Technical Organization (ATO) and Engineering Department management including direct supervision of the Structures Engineering section and other assigned personnel. Other areas of responsibility include managing CSH Engineering workflow and coordination of matrix engineering support activities. What You Will Do Supervise and provide guidance to assigned direct reports including Engineers, Technologists and Life Cycle Specialists (LCSs). Supervision activities including motivation, team leadership, coaching and managing employee performance. Assist in the management of the CH149 Engineering group in areas such as employee performance appraisals, department organization, and recruitment/hiring activities. Review and approve engineering data within assigned scope of authority. May include but not limited to Request for Engineering Services (RES), Engineering Reports, Technical Memorandums, Shop Instruction Notes (SIN), IMP Overhaul Technical Instructions, internal procedures, processes and work instructions. Coordinate and manage workflow/activities within Structures Engineering team. Conduct activities associated with implementing and monitoring corrective action in regard to service difficulty reporting, special inspections, service bulletins and airworthiness directives. Conduct airworthiness impact and risk assessments and support risk management team meetings. Prepare and/or review documents supporting the assessment of identified or emerging airworthiness risk across the CH149 fleet. Provide support to the Configuration Management, Data Management and Electronic Record Keeping systems across the CH149 Program. Lead or support technical initiatives where tasked by the CH149 Program. Conduct effective communications and liaison on technical matters with representatives from Main Operating Bases (MOBs), Department of National Defence (DND), aircraft and engine OEMs, Design Support Network elements and Design Authorities. Approve documents within your scope of assigned engineering and airworthiness authority. Perform airworthiness functions when authorized as either a Design Engineer (DE) or Design Technologist (DT). Perform Engineering Approval of technical data when authorized. In extraordinary circumstances and when required by operational necessity, provide weekend and after-hours support to SAR Operations. Assume the responsibilities of the CH149 Engineering Manager as required. Other tasks as assigned. What You Will Bring B. Eng., or B. Sc (Eng.), or CET (Diploma in Engineering Technology), or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Civilian or Military aerospace training. Prior technical and personnel management experience is an asset. Possess well rounded knowledge of aircraft systems in general and rotary wing aircraft systems and components in particular. Must possess knowledge and understanding of the goals and processes involved in the initial and continuing airworthiness process. Knowledge of airworthiness regulations and standards, and military modifications processes is essential. Current Design Engineer status is considered an asset. Clear and effective written and oral communication. Ability to manage projects and tasks. 5 or more years in experience in an aircraft engineering environment. Effective communication and leadership skills and proven ability in managing complex technical issues in an aircraft engineering setting. Sound interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with people at all levels both within the organization and those in agencies. Must possess good self-discipline with an ability to work independently when required. Must possess an ability to logically assimilate information and identify related causal factors. Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian Government Security Clearances.
