Practicum placements will take place in a variety of practice settings within Campbell River, and may require travel. Applicants need to have access to reliable transportation.Please identify within your cover letter which one or more of the courses below you prefer to instruct. Refer to the weekly work schedule for course start/end dates, days, times and campus location.PNS 117: Consolidated Practice Experience 1PNS 126 – Theory and/or Lab: Integrated Nursing Practice 2Weekly Work SchedulePNS 117 – Practice (Dec 29.25 – Jan 23.26)Monday to Thursday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PMLocation: Campbell RiverPNS 126 – Theory (Jan 26 – May 22.26)Tuesday 12:30 – 3:30 PMLocation: Campbell River, Comox Valley, or Port AlberniPNS 126 – Lab (Jan 26 – May 22.26)Wednesday 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM & Thursday 8:30 – 11:30 AMLocation: Campbell RiverResponsibilitiesPlan and prepare learning materials for instructional environments.Use a variety of approaches and materials, as appropriate, to address different learning needs.Teach in assigned subject areas and include in courses all required subject matter or skill activity.Direct student learning in a positive, supportive and caring environment.Be available to students regularly during scheduled office hours and classroom hours to discuss their progress and other issues that influence their learning. (30 hours/wk.)Clearly communicate in writing learning outcomes for programs and courses and the way in which learners will be evaluated against those outcomes.Design and conduct evaluations or appraisals of students and keep students informed of their progress.Submit grades in a timely manner, in accordance with Policy 4-15, Reporting Final Grades.Maintain records of student enrollment and achievement and other records required by the College and affiliated agencies. At the end of employment with the College, submit marks and student records to the department Chair.Be aware of, and work within, College educational policies.Be aware of the Education and Strategic plans and contribute to their development and assist in the achievement of its goals and objectives.Advise the Department Chair, within a reasonable time frame, of items that need to be ordered so that inventories of books, supplies, and equipment are adequate for the courses taught.Advise the Department Chair regarding enrollment management (recruitment and retention) strategies for their areas of responsibility.Advise the Department Chair, responsible, and the appropriate Administrator and/or Campus and Safety Committee of any health and safety concerns and assist, where possible, in rectifying the problem.Demonstrate knowledge of computer applications appropriate to the teaching environment.Maintain continuous professional development of competencies and qualifications as required in the appropriate discipline.Participate actively as a contributing member of the College community on College committees and other College-wide activities, where appropriate.Participate in department meetings and other department activities during normal working hours, when possible.Undertake other related responsibilities and duties which may be assigned by the College when course load permits.Required Education & ExperienceA current practising license as an LPN, NP, RN or RPN with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Faculty who are not licensed by BCCNM may be considered if they have equivalent education and experience.One of the following credentials in adult education from an accredited post-secondary institution.Provincial Instructor diploma (PID) (those in progress must have an identified completion date).Proof of completion of a formal Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) conducted by the hiring institution to ensure teaching competencies.Three to five years recent related practice experience (equivalent to full time hours per year).Credential in Adult Education / equivalent or in progress from an accredited post-secondary institution.Experience using a variety of creative and motivating approaches to stimulate learning within a distributed teaching-learning environment is an asset.Current registration with BCCNM (inclusive of Criminal Record).Current CPR level HCP.Required Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesA minimum of full-time three years experience (within the last five years) as an RN, RPN , or LPN .Knowledge of BC Practical Nursing curriculum and scope of practice would be an asset.Experience or interest with Indigenous health and/or global health is an asset.Experience using a variety of creative and motivating approaches to stimulate learning within a distributed teaching-learning environment and classroom is an asset.Ability to demonstrate effective team behaviours, support cooperative and effective working relationships, and contribute to shared team goals.Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan and prioritize, and efficiently meet deadlines.Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.Experience with and willingness to learn, online learning management systems, i.e. Kaltura, D2L Brightspace.Proficiency in the use of computer applications, the internet, and with MS Office software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams.Valid BC driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is required.Special NotesPlease read the Immunization requirements for Health and Human Services Faculty, located under the Health and Human Services link on the left menu list.In accordance with the Criminal Records and Review Act, it is mandatory that faculty hired under the Health and Human Services department have a clear Criminal Record.
