The Department of Biomedical and Molecular Sciences (DBMS) in Queen’s Health Sciences at Queen’s University invites applications for a teaching-focussed tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor with specialization in Anatomical Sciences. The preferred start date for this position is July 1, 2026 or earlier. DMBS is committed to excellence in both undergraduate and graduate education. At the undergraduate level, the department offers Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree programs in Life Sciences, Biochemistry, and Health Sciences. These programs include a comprehensive suite of anatomy courses that support a diverse student population. At the graduate level, DMBS offers a Master of Science (MSc) in Anatomical Sciences through a structured 16-month Pattern Two program. This program is designed to provide advanced training in anatomical instruction and research. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to the teaching of undergraduate human anatomy courses and to actively participate in the MSc in Anatomical Sciences program. This includes delivering graduate-level instruction and supervising graduate students in their research projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong academic background in human anatomical sciences, with demonstrated excellence in teaching and pedagogical/curriculum development and scholarship with experience in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in human anatomical sciences. An anatomical research focus related to pathology (e.g., cancer, autoimmune disease, infection) or normal tissue biology is preferred. Evidence of research productivity, such as peer-reviewed publications in these fields, will be considered an asset. Additional expertise in advanced techniques such as intravital imaging, histology, and immunological methods (e.g. multiparameter flow cytometry, spatial omics, etc.], would further strengthen the application. Qualifications Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree completed at the start date of the appointment. The main criteria for selection are teaching and academic excellence. The successful candidate will demonstrate a very strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and an ongoing commitment to academic and pedagogical excellence in support of the department’s programs as well as to provide evidence of high-quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer assessed publications and the securing of external research funding. Candidates must provide evidence of an ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary and student-centred environment. The successful candidate will also be expected to make contributions through service to the department, the Faculty, the University, and/or the broader community. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
