Field Service Technician- Trainee

OverviewField Service Technician - Trainee at Fike Corporation – entry level position focused on learning and development while providing electrical and mechanical support for maintenance and troubleshooting of Fike’s Explosion Protection (EP) systems. Under close supervision, supports onsite customer service and maintenance in varying conditions and environments. Travel approximately 90% of the time, primarily domestic.ResponsibilitiesLearns and practices Fike Core Values: Focus on customers. Respect each other. Work together. Be accountable. Think differently.Assists with projects related to Fike supplied equipment.Assists with job site problem analysis.Travels to various facilities nationwide as required, with team members.Learns emergency rebuild, routine service, and troubleshooting at job sites.Complies with Fike expense policy and provides weekly reports for customer billing and expense reimbursement.Participates in emergency/after-hours trips to meet customer schedules.Learns knowledge of Fike systems and applications to assist in problem solving for internal and external customers.Documents issues and findings and communicates effectively to required groups.Ensures resources comply with all customer safety requirements.Provides customer service in accordance with company policies, procedures and ISO-9001 requirements.Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed.Utilizes Fike’s electronic field service platform to prepare reports on work performed and document all pertinent information.Learns to operate lift equipment safely, including working at heights, and obtaining man lift certification as requested.Completes in-person and online safety training.Performs related duties as assigned. Travel for consecutive days may be required.Job QualificationsREQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent. Mechanical or electrical aptitude. Solid verbal and written communication skills to describe problems and communicate with customers. Must be able to obtain a Passport. Basic knowledge of Windows and/or Google Suite. Ability to work emergency cover at short notice. A valid driver’s license and operation of a company vehicle are essential. All candidates must meet and maintain a satisfactory driving standard as determined by our insurance provider.No major traffic violations within the last five years.No more than three minor traffic infractions within the last five years.Verification (Abstract) will be requested after a conditional offer of employment. Basic understanding of NFPA standards and related code requirements. Experience in computer and/or security networking.
