MGH’s Child and Youth Mental Health Program offers child and youth workers a unique opportunity to grow career and leadership experience, focused on whole‑person care and family‑centred support, providing comprehensive behavioural counselling within an interprofessional team. What To Expect As a member of the Child and Youth Outpatient Mental Health team, you will grow your practice by: Providing individual, group, and family behavioural counselling, assessment and safety plans for clients age 12‑18 experiencing significant mental health challenges interfering with daily functioning and education, including support to families and networks. Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, evaluate treatment care, case coordination, and transition plans in and out of day treatment service. Facilitating group and health teaching for students in the day treatment program. Applying knowledge of mental health, school disengagement, clinical judgment to provide safe, competent, compassionate, evidence‑informed, client‑centred care. Advocating for and promoting health and well‑being of clients and sharing knowledge with others. Supporting intake tasks for the outpatient mental health program, including building bridges, urgent care clinic and other assigned programs. Education Child and Youth Worker diploma required; Baccalaureate Degree in Child and Youth Work preferred. Eligible for membership in the Ontario Association for Child and Youth Councillors. Qualifications At least 1 year recent experience providing individual, group, and family supports in a mental health setting. At least 2 years experience working in a child and youth mental health setting required. Experience working with youth presenting acute mental health needs considered a strong asset. Recent experience working in a day treatment setting an asset. Experience with serious mental illness and high‑risk children and youth required. Demonstrated ability to assess children and youth in crisis. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Good work and attendance record required. Shift and Coverage Work 8‑ and 12‑hour shifts in day treatment and other mental health programs as scheduled. Must be willing to cover inpatient unit and emergency department based on operational needs. Employment Type Full‑time, entry level.
