OverviewSr. Water Resources Engineer and Project Mgr — Stantec. The opportunity exists in our Markham, Mississauga or Toronto offices. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the management and coordination of stormwater management designs for projects ranging from commercial or residential infill developments to master stormwater drainage plans such as Subwatershed Impact Studies, and you will support business development activities. You will be the prime contact on your projects with the client, approval agencies and others, and you will use your technical and leadership abilities to lead a project team of designers and others.ResponsibilitiesGuide the stormwater management design for projects through to completion, including due diligence/feasibility work, preliminary/conceptual design, detailed design, scheduling, tendering or construction.Coordinate with engineers, technical staff and team members across disciplines to meet project needs in a timely and effective manner.Serve as a technical expert during liaison with clients, municipal/agency staff and other stakeholders.Complete engineering design of stormwater management systems (ponds, underground and surface drainage, low impact development features, linear infrastructure stormwater management and conveyance systems, erosion and sediment control plans). Include technical review and sealing of complex engineering design drawings where applicable.Prepare and review technical reports and design briefs to document analyses; ensure quality of written, technical and graphic work (including QA/QC where applicable).Collaborate with Stantec planners, landscape architects, environmental specialists, civil designers and project managers, and external consultants on more complex projects.Liaise with clients, agencies and others to determine project requirements and obtain approvals. Interpret requirements on complex projects such as Subwatershed Impact Studies, Environmental Assessments, linear infrastructure and large development projects.Write/Review reports and design briefs to document analyses.Ensure that client needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.Undertake business development and promotional activities with new and existing clients, including preparing work programs, proposals and fee estimates.Manage surface water related projects and tasks to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.Lead and/or contribute to project proposals and budgets.Bring experience with different sectors and clients; career growth opportunities may include leadership roles locally or corporately.QualificationsBachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering (or similar) and registered as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).Minimum of 12 years of stormwater management engineering experience; preference for 15+ years with land development and/or linear infrastructure design experience.Extensive knowledge of Ontario stormwater guidelines and regulations; familiarity with land development/redevelopment processes and water resources, environmental and civil engineering concepts; residential subdivisions experience is an asset.Experience preparing stormwater management plans, master or phased master drainage plans, functional servicing plans; design experience on water resources infrastructure for linear infrastructure projects.Strong communication skills (written and verbal) for client and review agency coordination.Ability to oversee projects from design through completion; strong leadership, time management and team-building skills.Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks; capable of working independently and managing projects and clients.Hands-on experience with stormwater management modelling (e.g., Visual OTTHYMO, HEC-RAS, PCSWMM); knowledge of SWMHYMO, InfoWorks, GAWSER or other models is an asset.
