As a Fitness and Sport Facility Attendant, you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming, and efficient environment within our fitness centre, gymnasium, and other fitness areas. Responsibilities Serve as the first point of contact for customers, providing friendly assistance and expert guidance on proper equipment usage and exercise techniques. Ensure all fitness equipment is well‑maintained and ready for use; set up and dismantle equipment for various programs. Perform regular cleaning and upkeep to maintain a clean and hygienic environment. Follow established guidelines while exercising independent decision‑making; resolve common issues and determine when to consult a supervisor. Assume responsibility for overall operation and security in the absence of supervisory staff. Maintain general records of centre usage and exercise discipline with tact and consistency. Provide first aid treatment as needed, including CPR/ART where appropriate. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of exercise programs and equipment usage. Ability to answer general and specific questions related to physical fitness. Orientation of patrons to facility and equipment. Strong communication, teamwork, and decision‑making skills. Ability to maintain discipline with tact and consistency. Skill in using fitness centre equipment. Licences and Certificates BC Recreation and Park Association (BCRPA) Basic Fitness Leaders – Weight Training Module or equivalent. Standard First Aid Certificate. CPR/AED Certification. Police Information Check. Education and Experience Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by weight training, fitness, or related courses and a minimum of six months of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Hours of Work No ongoing regular schedule of hours (auxiliary position). Preferred Qualifications Skill in operating a variety of equipment used in health, wellness, and fitness facilities. Responsibilities Directly oversee all aspects of golf course operations: driving range, maintenance, clubhouse, pro shop, events, marketing, and sales. Coordinate clubhouse service needs with TFSE’s Food & Beverage and Merchandise departments. Develop and execute events and public programming aligned with business objectives. Collaborate on annual operating and capital budget preparation. Lead and manage staff, establish performance expectations, address issues, and foster a positive work culture. Monitor revenue streams and expenses to ensure profitability and cost control. Develop and implement long‑term strategies for course improvement, growth, and sustainability. Implement best practices per NGCOA Canada for sustainable operations. Resolve customer enquiries and maintain high‑quality guest experience. Perform other duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities Proven leadership and team management. Knowledge of golf operations, maintenance, tournaments, hospitality. Excellent communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution. Advanced computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, golf management systems). Flexibility with schedules. Qualifications 5‑7 years progressive management experience in golf or hospitality. Post‑secondary education in business administration, sport or hospitality management. Police Information Check. Basic First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification. PGA of Canada Class “A” preferred. Summer Programming Assistant (Student Position) Location: London, Ontario | Posting dates: July 14 2024 through end August 2024 | Salary: Grade 1 $16.55 per hour | Reporting to: Public Programming and Education Coordinators | Term: 30 days, up to full‑time seasonal; weekends and holiday Mondays required. Duties and Responsibilities Interpret visitors through approved daily demonstrations and activities for public programming. Assist with program set‑up and clean‑up. Coordinate demonstrations for the public according to the annual programming plan. Complete special tasks as assigned. Work in a team environment and provide top‑level customer service. Deliver special themed events and programs. Help train other staff and volunteers when experience permits. Cross‑Departmental Responsibilities Prepare and deliver on‑site history‑based education programs, summer camps, and guided tours. Demonstrate heritage crafts, trades, foodways, and activities. Perform daily program set‑up, take‑down, and cleaning procedures. Ensure safety of visitors, participants, and site resources. Assist with building and site cleaning and program maintenance. Offer support at the Denfield General Store as needed. General Responsibilities Support fanshawe pioneer village customer service initiatives. Ensure safety of visitors and staff; protect site resources. Maintain building cleaning and maintenance. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Ability to lift 20‑30 lb, navigate uneven paths, work outdoors in various weather conditions, tolerate wildlife and pollution. Effective communication and interpretation skills for diverse audiences. Experience working with children and youth, delivering engaging programming. Knowledge of interpretive program principles. Ability to wear historical costumes and adhere to guidelines. Knowledge of 19th‑century southwestern Ontario history is an asset. Ability to perform garden, farming, hearth cooking, heritage handiwork, and fine arts demonstrations. Prior retail/customer service experience required. Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with supervisors, volunteers, and staff. Prior supervisory experience is an asset. Excellent organization, communication, and time‑management skills. Work on weekends and holidays. Prior museum or living history experience is an asset. Fluency in French an asset. Valid driver’s licence. Standard first aid and CPR certificate an asset. Own transportation required. Provide Police Information Check and Vulnerable Persons Screening. Additional Information Must meet Summer Employment Opportunities requirements.
