Overview Technical Engineering Manager – Reactivity Control Units role at AtkinsRéalis. Based in Mississauga, Ontario, reporting to the Director of Reactor Components and Mechanical Engineering Division and laterally to the Project Technical Director (PTD) for a new large CANDU design project. Responsibilities Providing technical leadership in Reactivity Control Units design engineering, including preparation of technical specifications, drawings, design specifications, bill of materials, and design certifications. Developing project scope and deliverable definitions in compliance with governing contract documents, quality requirements, and customer requirements. Deciding/recommending resourcing requirements and coordinating with functional managers to assign engineering resources. Maintaining an appropriate combination of skills and experience within the project to provide technical leadership and specialized expertise. Managing personnel issues, providing clear expectations and performance measures, and recognizing achievements. Fostering good working relationships with staff and managers within the Reactor Components and Mechanical Engineering Divisions and other divisions. Working with the Project Manager to plan work, ensure resource availability, assign tasks, and report progress against deliverables. Reviewing and approving project documents/drawings and ensuring work complies with codes, standards and the quality assurance manual. Ensuring activities are executed on-time and within budget; interfacing with internal and external stakeholders to prioritize work. Providing strong leadership within the project team and the company for Reactivity Control Units engineering. Developing and maintaining relationships with clients, partners, suppliers, and project stakeholders. The Ideal Candidate University bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent, with a minimum of 10 years of technical experience in the CANDU Reactor field. ASME III Appendix XXIII qualification is beneficial. Experience in stress analysis and FEA methods and other design activities. Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (or eligible for registration). Understanding of CANDU reactor design and familiarity with CSA N285/ASME Section III pressure boundary design. Demonstrated leadership of a highly technical group and strong people skills to interact with external clients and organizations. Understanding of quality assurance manuals and procedures. Knowledge of finite element analysis tools such as ANSYS, LS-DYNA is beneficial. Ability to resolve technical issues and manage time effectively; excellent oral and written communication skills.
