This role is an on‑site role at our Ottawa office. We are seeking a dynamic Research Scientist Co‑op Student with a strong focus on lab process development to contribute to our team. As a technically adept individual, you will play a vital role in assisting us to achieve our objectives. This role requires someone who is naturally curious, creative, and analytical, with a passion for exploring new technologies. Your responsibilities will include conducting ongoing research, swiftly evaluating potential solutions, and proficiently prototyping proof‑of‑concept processes. Furthermore, you will be instrumental in scaling up these solutions into production‑ready processes for our customers. If you are eager to apply your technical skills in a collaborative and innovative environment, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.WHAT YOU WILL DOCollaborate with other cross‑functional teams making sure that the challenges they face are well understood.Gather ideas from background knowledge, scientific journals and publications, industry experts and other technology areas to generate hypothesis for potential solutions.Rapidly prototype proof‑of‑concept solutions to quickly identify the most effective ideas for development.WHO YOU AREMust be a post‑secondary student enrolled in applied physics, engineering physics or related disciplines (masters or undergrad with at least 3 years of program completed).Experience with the following will be considered a strong asset:Ion beam/ charged particle physicsMonte Carlo simulation of ion beam interactions with solidsHands‑on experience in a lab environment with high vacuum systems and ion beam sourcesSoftware tools like Python, Excel for recording and evaluating dataPrototyping mechanical jigs, mechanical design using CADStrong analytical problem diagnosis skills.Ability to independently find, organize and present information clearly and concisely.Demonstrated record of learning rapidly and mastering diverse techniques.Tenacity, persistence, and an inquisitive mindset.As part of the recruitment process for this position, you will be required to submit your latest citizenship and/or permanent residency information.
