Job Description WSP is currently seeking a Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer to join our Buildings BC team. The successful candidate can be based in any major BC city. WSP’s electrical engineering engages in a variety of projects in the commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, light industrial and transportation sectors across British Columbia. Reporting to an Electrical Team Lead, this position will be responsible for electrical design, leading documentation preparation, construction reviews, administration, client communication and project management. A day in the life: Design electrical systems for building types and locations throughout BC and the Yukon (having PSPC Reliability clearance would be a huge asset). Manage project assignments within the electrical buildings field, including power distribution, infrastructure, lighting, life safety, communications, data and security systems, from opportunity and proposal stages through design and construction. Participate with a design team of electrical engineers and technicians, focusing on technical solutions, developing electrical designs, preparing project drawings and specifications, and reviewing fieldwork. Communicate with the client, other design team partners, authorities and contractors. Design power distribution (normal and backup power), infrastructure, lighting, fire alarm, data and security systems for buildings in health care and institutional/commercial sectors. Ensure electrical design complies with the BC Building Code, the Canadian Electrical Code and other required codes. Understand and practice safe work procedures. Adhere to project budgets and timelines while maintaining accurate project tracking, management and billing. Review and assess existing systems and prepare condition reports and feasibility studies. Prepare load calculations using industry-standard load and lighting analysis software. Select systems and equipment and prepare project specifications. Coordinate preparation of project drawings using CAD and BIM software. Participate in preparation of fee proposals and business development activities where requested. Provide guidance and mentorship to less experienced staff members. We’d love to hear from you if you have: 15+ years of experience in electrical engineering consulting for buildings and infrastructure. Professional Engineer registration with EGBC or ability to obtain. Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead a team to deliver design submissions, often with demanding timelines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD; Proficiency with AGI or ETAP is considered an asset. Experience in creating tender document packages with drawings and specifications. Experience with site reviews of building electrical systems. Extensive understanding of building construction and building electrical systems and infrastructure. Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code and the National Building Code of Canada. CompensationSalary range (in British Columbia): $124,800 to $171,600. The final salary awarded may vary based on education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, and business needs.
