Actuarial Associate, Reinsurance Analytics

Job Overview Actuarial Associate, Reinsurance Analytics role at RBC Insurance. This position is accountable for providing actuarial expertise to support product profitability management and reinsurance strategy while overseeing all reinsurance treaties. The role offers an opportunity to deepen actuarial experience through in‑depth analysis of the company’s reinsurance portfolio, supporting potential treaty recaptures, and evaluating existing treaties for new business. Responsibilities Provide actuarial analysis and insights on the effectiveness of reinsurance treaties and their impact on product profitability, and support product dashboards. Assist with actuarial tasks related to Board of Directors and regulatory reporting, participate in product‑related working groups, and run valuation models. Manage the monthly process to deliver accurate and timely analytics from the Reinsurance Dashboard in Tableau, ensuring month‑end reinsurance valuation data is prepared. Prepare, compile, and summarize actuarial metrics into clear PowerPoint presentations to deliver reinsurance strategy, treaty management, and profitability monitoring objectives. Provide support for other reinsurance‑related initiatives as needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field, actively writing SOA exams. ASA Designation with 3‑5 years of relevant experience and strong understanding of life and health insurance products. Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively influence others and present to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and financial reporting standards such as IFRS 17 and LICAT. Familiarity with actuarial valuation, pricing methodologies, and insurance assumptions. Proficiency in MS Excel, programming languages (VBA, Python, R), actuarial modeling software (e.g., Moody AXIS), and data analytics/visualization tools (e.g., Tableau). Nice to have Familiarity with reinsurance and risk management practices. Demonstrated leadership and mentorship experience in managing or supporting a team.
