Systems Assurance Engineering Specialist Join our dynamic team to work on high-impact projects for Metrolinx, including the Union Station Upgrades (USEP) and the Ontario Line. This role involves developing and implementing System Assurance strategies, covering Safety Assurance, Security, and RAM (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability). Responsibilities Develop and implement System Assurance strategies covering Safety Assurance, Security, and RAM. Lead and review System Safety Assurance analyses and management plans per CENELEC standards (EN50126, EN50128, EN50129, EN50159). Apply CENELEC guidelines for RAMS quantitative target decomposition and allocation. Lead system assurance teams to ensure all railway systems and components comply with relevant governance, regulations, and standards. Monitor and evaluate compliance with established standards. Coordinate with engineering teams to integrate system assurance requirements and policies into project designs and operations. Oversee the implementation of safety and security requirements. Ensure clear documentation and reporting of system assurance activities, including safety, security, and reliability targets throughout the project lifecycle. Provide expert guidance on best practices in railway safety and security. Stay updated on technological advancements and regulatory changes affecting system assurance. Support the delivery assurance lead in strategic decision-making through risk management and assurance reporting. Organize and attend periodic Safety Reviews. Liaise with Independent Safety Assessors and Safety Advisors, managing the closure of assigned observations. Lead and/or produce documentation, including the System Safety Program Plan and Safety & RAMS requirements. Lead decomposition and allocation of RAMS requirements downstream of the V-cycle phases. Produce RAMS Validation and Verification plans and reports. Represent RAMS engineering in the project core team. Establish RAM demonstration plans and FRACAS procedures with project management and field teams. Lead Human Factor assessments and conduct Human Reliability Analysis. Develop and review system HW/SW analyses (PHA, SHA, SSHA, IHA, O&SHA) using safety techniques such as FMECAs, FTA, ETA, RBD, and CCF. Develop the System Safety Case. Establish processes and procedures for Hazard Log Management tools. Mentor and lead system assurance engineers in executing System Assurance Programs for clients. Essential Skills Experience in systems assurance, particularly on large infrastructure projects involving electronic systems with a focus on critical safety applications. Proficiency in FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis). Knowledge of CENELEC standards (EN50126, EN50128, EN50129, EN50159), signaling, and railway systems. Experience with rail and transit projects, including familiarity with AREMA standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in systems assurance with a heavy emphasis on critical safety applications. Ability to mentor and lead engineering teams.
