OverviewManufacturing Engineer role at Cleaver-Brooks. Description: Manufacturing Engineer Job Responsibilities include developing and improving boiler products’ assembly techniques and processes by reviewing product and manufacturing methods to optimize assembly operations.ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Plant Manager, work closely with the operational managers.Lead and execute strategic cost reduction and quality improvement projects in cooperation with other business stakeholders.Lead the change management process for current and new products.Responsible for BOM structures and updates in ERP system (IFS) in connection to shop floor documentation (shop orders, pick lists).Work with R&D, Drafting, Purchasing, QC, Materials, Production departments and suppliers to launch new products or alternative parts.Write and update SWIs (Standard Work Instructions) for all product group families.Support continuous process improvement projects, prepare A3s and play an active role as a key technical member.Support capital projects and assist other departments as needed.Trial and validate new materials introductions.Implement time studies as required.Apply deep knowledge in DFM, lean manufacturing, 6-Sigma, Kaizen concepts.Assist Plant 5S program and implement lean tools in production; participate in corporate/local Kaizen events.Engage shop floor, suppliers and engineers; may work in different time zones to support Low-Cost Country (LCC) sourcing or cost-out engineering partners located in LCCs.Attend weekday/weekend overtime as per business needs.Able to travel within Canada and to company US locations.Previous experience in boiler manufacturing industry is a great asset.Comfortable with MS Office and A-CAD software.Work Hours and Other DutiesWork Hours: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Overtime/shift work may be required as per business needs.Other Duties: As assigned by the Plant Manager.ContactsInternal Contacts: Contacts required as a regular part of daily duties involving work of non-controversial nature. External Contacts: Suppliers and internal customers.Education and ExperienceEducation Required: Engineering degree (Min. B.Sc. in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Metallurgical Engineering).Experience Required: 3+ years of operational experience in industrial plants.Physical Skill and EffortRequires skilled, accurate, rapid, and closely coordinated manual skills.
