Health Services Leader – Primary Health Care Location: Eastern Zone, Cape Breton Regional Hospital Department: PHC EZ Network Cape Breton CBR Type of Employment: Permanent Full-Time (100%) Posting Closing Date: 6-Nov-25 About The Opportunity The Health Services Lead, Primary Health Care is a member of the Primary Health Care leadership team and is responsible for advancing priorities of the portfolio by supporting the ongoing development and implementation of assigned Primary Health Care, Wellness, Chronic Disease Management, Family Practice programs and initiatives. The Lead works together with other members of the Primary Health Care leadership team to implement multiple projects to support patient‑centered, community‑based primary health care programs within their Zone of Nova Scotia Health. Presently, the Lead will support the day‑to‑day operations of the collaborative family practice, wellness and chronic disease teams spanning multiple sites in the Sydney area. The Lead will work closely with Family Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and other interprofessional teams to manage operational requirements, performance standards and support quality improvements. The Lead is knowledgeable of provincial and zone governance structures, community‑based agencies and organizations, and the collaborative team approach to care. The Lead is responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with health care staff, other Zone‑based NSH departments and teams. About You Baccalaureate degree from a health discipline or related field Minimum of 3 to 5 years of recent and related progressive leadership experience in a health care setting Experience in primary health care, specifically family medicine, will be considered an asset Experience working with physicians, nurse practitioners, and registered nurses, among other health professionals an asset Current registration with professional association (if applicable) Demonstrated knowledge of primary health care, health promotion, health determinants, and dynamics of health needs in the community Strong interpersonal and communication (oral, written, and presentation) skills including the ability to work collaboratively with various professional and community individuals, demonstrating a high level of judgment, tact, creativity, diplomacy, discretion, and confidentiality Demonstrated experience with budget and resource management Demonstrated experience in program development, project management, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation in community settings Demonstrated ability to work with physicians and other stakeholders across multiple governance structures to establish and sustain strong collaborative family practice teams Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective collaborative relationships and partnerships with stakeholders and clients Strong organizational, time‑management, and problem‑solving skills Demonstrated experience in quality improvement and change management initiatives Demonstrated self‑motivation, self‑direction, leadership, team development, organizational and facilitation skills Strong human resource management and financial management skills Physical and mental capabilities to perform the duties of the position such as working irregular hours and under pressure to meet strict deadlines; ability to keep projects operating concurrently Hours Permanent full‑time position; 75 hours bi‑weekly Travel to various sites required Shifts may include days, nights and weekends (or other specific hours of shifts) Compensation and Benefits Hourly: $40.95 - $54.42 Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long‑term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
